Aibu to buy valentines cards for my children

I agree with your dh. Valentines day is not about children, I find it really weird when parents do this!

I know quite a lot of people who do this so I'm in the minority because I don't only just remembered to buy one for dh I don't think yabu because you can do what you like and it's not hurting anybody. Each to their own

I think the Americans give cards to a wider range of people than just romantic partners on St Vs day though. Are you American?

I have given cards to my kids for years. My DM used to as well, before she died.
It makes the kids smile ( even the 18 yr old) they know that even if they don't have an ' admirer' they will always get a card. ( and a few chocs) Mind you with 4 kids and a DH it is getting a bit expensive.

I was a bit while in a card shop I came across a"to my son" card. I sure there were other family variations. But yuk. Just no. It is a romantic gesture and should be kept so. Yabu.

My grandad used to send us cards when we were young. He didn't sign them so officially we didn't know who they were from. It stopped me feeling left out and if someone asked if I got a card, I was always happy to be able to say yes.

Hmm, when I was younger a few of my friends got cards from their Mums and I was a bit jealous, so I told my Mum.
She then got me a card and some Black Magic but I felt really stupid and it was a bit weird.

I have written Happy Valentines Day on the notice board because 3 yo DS2 made me a card at pre-school "because I wuv you Mama" which made me a bit soppy!

Gave them the free choc hearts that I got with M&s dine in for £20. I'm not American, kids were very happy, will def stop long before they are married??

I don't think it's weird, pointless perhaps, but valentines day is pretty stupid anyway.

I don't see any harm in sending someone you love a heart shaped card just to make them smile.

I don't do it for mine, but my mum always done it for me - a card and a little bit of chocolate, it was lovely bless her.

I'm torn. I think anything that dilutes the ghastliness of VD is a good idea. But the idea of more cheesy cards being bought! Tough call.

I think it is weird. My uncle has alsways sent flowers to my cousin for valentines. Very odd.

I don't do valentines at all though, I think it's daft. I have never sent one and only ever received on once when I fisrt went with DH and he didn't believe me when I said don't waste your money.

I've never done cards but have always got my DDs something small, heart shaped and chocolatey.

I think it's sweet.
