AIBU to want my cat to stop snoring!

DCat1 is currently curled up on and old throw that I keep on the ottoman at the bottom of my bed right next to the radiator. She's fast asleep and snoring.

I've already poked her, rolled her over and tried to encourage her to go downstairs with DCat2 but no throw and ottoman by radiator is comfy. Even though she's keeping me awake!

YABU there's nowt cuter than little cat snores

YABU. A snoring cat is wonderful - and so nice that they're relaxed enough to sleep deeply.

Take her into bed with you. Either she'll stop snoring or you'll fall asleep.

Chuck the husband, cuddle the cat! DH has to put up with both furry menaces if he wants to remain in the marital bed!

aw its lovely when they snore, they must be so relaxed and feel so secure in their home when they do that. just enjoy it, they are doing no harm and they won't be around forever

Botanicbaby, I know what you mean about not being around for ever. She's 14, so I don't know how much longer she has.

DCat1 has just moved from throw onto the bed and snuck under the covers DH will have to put up with it

CompsCat has the cutest snore. It isn't really a snore as such, sort of a 'pfft' noise

I would settle for snoring as she's walking up down the bed meowing her little lungs out.

One of my cats snores so loudly. We assumed that we were hearing a neighbour snoring through the wall. I could not believe that much noise was coming from a small tabby.

Mine snores very loudly and I mostly think it's cute - apart from when she wakes me up from the next room with it :D

Childhood cat only snored when she got past 12, sometimes she'd wake herself up and look affronted as if to say "Who the hell's making that racket".

T3kitty is a world class champion snorer for much of the day. Not sure about night - she sends us off to bed and cosies up to the woodburner.

Our cat used to sleep downstairs........and wake us up with snoring and we were upstairs. Bless him.

Ah, our cat snores, and has done since she pitched up at four months old; tiny, princess-y snores. You'd hardly think she was the bastard offspring of some feral tom who rogered her Siamese mum, leaving us to adopt her tiny ass from an animal shelter.

Our cat (10 yo Tortoiseshell) came from a shelter and had previously lived in the fancy part of the West end of Edinburgh and is now slumming it in Leith.

She gives off the air of an elderly Russian aristocrat forced into exile and living in reduced circumstances, permanently disappointed in the world.

My cat does a kind of back to front purr, really weird, but to me its white noise and helps me sleep

I love hearing my cats snore, I find it so sweet and so relaxing - I actually think it helps me fall asleep.

My DH on the other hand absolutely hates it!

My cat's snores are more like a small honking noise: "Haaaaw" every time she breathes out. It's very amusing as she's only a small moggy but you can hear her from another room!

She also sighs a lot, I'm hoping they're "I'm content with my life" noises.

Does any one else's cat, if you give them a quick stroke when they're asleep, make this contented, purry "brrrrruh" sound. It's one of my very favourite noises.

Do you mean the high-pitched one Hest? My cat does that! She also does what we call "the silent meow", where she opens her mouth at you but no noise comes out.

You can also tell when she's very happy because her purrs go up an octave

Oh the silent meow - they know exactly what they're doing with that, let me tell you. They're getting what they want! "I know, if I do that silent mew thing, I'll look like a sad, helpless little kitten, too pathetic to make a proper noise, and they'll give me extra food."
