to think if that woman in the Volkswagon ad was so conscious about her height

She should have checked the height of her dates before hand. Rather than facing the disappointment of smaller dates.

Assuming they don't lie.

I agree.

I also don't think that she should get in the car with him on the first date.

HollyMiamiFLA · 13/02/2014 12:52

I thought that as well.

Ha! You haven't been online dating have you? They all add a couple of inches to their height in their profiles.

Except DP of course!

Callani · 13/02/2014 12:53

Also, she's wearing heels! Not small little heels, quite large ones. Surely if you knew you were taller-than-average (and that bothered you), you'd wear flats, or just lower heels?

badtime · 13/02/2014 12:57

They all lie. My 5'11" partner is significantly taller than all the 6'2" men I met online, and I once met a 5'9" guy who was the same height as me (5'4.75").

ProfessorDent · 13/02/2014 14:33

The song, by the way, is Needle in a Haystack, sung by Fred Astaire in one of his 1930s films back in the day.

The woman reminds me of Sally Phillips.

ViviPru · 13/02/2014 14:38

This advert confused me initially as I thought it was the same man she was meeting every time....

squoosh · 13/02/2014 14:50

ALL men lie about their height.

drudgewithagrudge · 13/02/2014 15:50

What worries me is that she has only just met Mr Right Height and the next thing she is sat in his car being driven off to heaven knows where.

I thought first dates had to be in public places and you made your own way there.

I may be paranoid.

HollyMiamiFLA · 13/02/2014 15:52

But they're having a great time though. In his car. So that's alright Confused

OP posts:
squoosh · 13/02/2014 15:57

Well yeah it is alright, because it's not real life.

Tiny little polar bears don't really live in the freezer either.

DanceParty · 13/02/2014 16:11

It's an advert folks Grin

Adverts are not the real world, nor anything like it.

MrsDavidBowie · 13/02/2014 16:14

I love the ad....as a six footer myself, I know what it's like!

StanHouseMuir · 13/02/2014 16:49

squoosh 6'4" am I lying?

DCexpat · 13/02/2014 16:51

I'm 6'1. I've never dated a guy who was taller than me. I find that guys don't mind dating taller girls, but many girls are resistant to dating shorter guys. Refusing to date guys shorter than me would be very limiting.

squoosh · 13/02/2014 16:52

Possibly.

I should add that so many men have lied about their height for so long that they convince themselves their fictional height is actually correct.

RegTheMonkey · 13/02/2014 16:56

It's not the Fred Astaire version in the ad though. Speaking of ads, I have an inappropriate crush on the guy in the Cadbury ad. The one who mimes to 'Yes Sir, I can boogie'. Can't find the name of the actor anywhere.

CatAmongThePigeons · 13/02/2014 17:06

My husband was the height he said he was

I know the pain of having men lie about their height

StanHouseMuir · 13/02/2014 17:06

6'4" and a little bit.

Whenever I see a tall female I'm reminded of when I had a tall waltz partner and we zipped around the dance floor at an amazing speed. Can't do that with DW though.

TiggyCBE · 13/02/2014 17:54

I don't lie about my height. But then again I'm sensibly sized.

StickEmUpBigStyle · 13/02/2014 18:04

I really want the car. I love the Up.

NinjaCow · 13/02/2014 18:05

DP is 6ft4. I'm 5ft7, so am tiny in comparison to him Grin when I first chatted to him (online, although we had mutual friends we were set up via email originally) I thought he lied about his height. I got quite a shock when I realised he hadn't.

pigsDOfly · 13/02/2014 18:18

Regthemonkey The actor you have a crush on is called Brendan Gibson. Hope that puts you out of your misery:)

iklboo · 13/02/2014 18:46

It's the face she pulls when they're under the umbrella. You could carry it yourself love!

I'm only 5ft. To date a shorter bloke I'd have to give Warwick Davies or Peter Dinklage a bell.

iklboo · 13/02/2014 18:46

Thanks Pigs! I like him too. He looks cheeky!
