wouldn't have complained... but did feel it was not very professional - didn't have all that when luge gold was won last time.... so why get so over the top emotional and unsporting now...... for a bronze?

I wouldn't have complained but it wasn't very sporting to cheer when someone fell.

It was awful commentating.
The camera shots have been terrible and the usual BBC waffling has been as long and drawn out as usual.
Why is Jonathan Edwards there? Never saw him doing a triple jump on snow wearing skis.
I wish they would just let the sports the talking instead of making us listen to all the so called 'experts' drivel.

YANBU - I caught it on the evening highlights show and thought it was fabulous, and cried when they pulled her mum and dad out of the crowd and they told her she had never disappointed them!

Totally mad and exuberant, yes; but I've heard similar rowing / rugby commentary when prizes are at stake. OK they shouldn't have cheered others falling / messing up landings, but this happens when other teams fail to score a try / miss a conversion etc (I often watch Ireland rugby on the BBC for the overall quality of the discourse during the match and this is interesting when we play England!). I for one will be tuning in more, not less, to these Olympics for the entertainment value

I don't think the BBC control the camera shots. I'm pretty sure there is a feed provided by the host country that the various tv companies have to commentate from.

I thought it was brilliant. Fabulous to see people really getting into the spirit.

The thing is Aimee is a snowboarder, not a professional commentator. And she quite clearly said that of course they didn't want people to fall but she was just too excited at one of her best friends doing so well.

YABU. Why does everything have to be crazy, bubbly and dumbed down?

YABU. The BBC is funded by license payers who are perfectly entitled to complain if they feel the commentary was poor quality.

Sport is fun. The commentary should be too.

For coverage on this kind of minority sport, you either go with people who have participated in it or established commentators who haven't.

They definitely don't control the camera shots they were complaining this morning that they didn't need to see the Canadians big fall in slow motion, which I totally agreed with it looked awful.

the commentary this morning was wonderful though

"this is the biggest moment in these girls' lives, they're staring down the barrel of a gold medal" was my favourite

The commentators were dreadful. As a lay person a bit more information about how the event is scored, what they were trying to achieve etc would've been useful. Instead we got hysterical whooping and screaming. I muted the TV. Great to see GB win a bronze medal though!

I would have thought the right response was a wry smile at the thought that they're not robots but human beings, and they let excitement about the success of a friend and colleague get to them. Particularly understandable in the case of the competitor who isn't even a commentator and was just invited in to share the moment.

I'm sure the producers would have had a quiet word with them afterwards. As for people who's response is to take the time to complain, words fail me. There are some fucking miserable people in the world, I guess they like grabbing opportunities to wallow in it.
