faking reduced movement.

am I alone in thinking its not right to fake reduced movement, so the hospital induces you? ive noticed a few people saying it but ive never even considered it. It seems really selfish.

i would assume that hospital would monitor you, check heartbeat, scan etc before just whipping the baby out?

I've never heard of that. I had reduced movements and they had me sliced open before the epidural had taken effect. I wouldn't recommend it.

Why would anyone want to be induced? Its not a nice experience and is likely to result in an emergency c section.

A friend of mine who works as a neonatal nurse told me this excuse would help me not go past my due date but I couldn't bring myself to lie so went 5 days over (shock! horror!) Those 5 days did drag on but ultimately not a big deal.

I kinda felt like its on par with you just don't ever lie to get out of work by saying your still living relative has passed away. Feels like it is tempting fate too much.

Personally it had nothing to do with the fact that I can't even believably tell harmless lies. Wink

So I think YANBU.

You can pretend baby movements are reduced but like pp's have said hospital will monitor and realise baby is fine.

But yes it's a thing.

I should mention that I wasn't sliced open until I had been monitored to confirm reduced movements.

Sure they would monitor you and not sure why anyone would want to be induced unnecessarily anyway.

I have a heavily pregnant friend and I saw a conversation on facebook with 3 other girls swearing by it. One was apparetly minutes away but was turned down by a consultant. it seems a little crazy to me. Leave them to cook! I was induced with my daughter and it was horrendous. I did question why anyone would want this.

I've heard of this too, apparently if you go in to be monitored 3 times they induce you.

I have heard of this, apparently if you have 3 episodes of reduced movement the hospital will recommend induction regardless of monitoring so some women say the baby has stopped moving so that they can get it over with. I don't know anyone who has actually done that btw, just vaguely recall seeing something on obem or maybe read about it on here Confused

MeepMeepVroom My heavily pregnant friend was having a moan with equally as fed up and pregnant wome on Facebook and people were swearing by it. They gave me the impression if you moan enougn they will induce you.

Dc4 was very quiet when I was pregnant, not many movements or kicks so frequently had to go to hospital because of reduced movement. That drive in each time was awful, hoping that a heartbeat would be there. Thankfully each time there was but I will think very low of those that use this as an excuse and who take midwife and consultant time away from someone who really needs it.

They don't just induce you, I was monitored daily by ctg machine to check movements as baby was poorly with a severe condition. Being induced was horrible and the thing is there is real people who need to be induced ... I had to be induced and they struggled to book me in .... So they could be taking valuable recourses from someone else.

I've known plenty of silly people talking about doing this but none who succeeded all they ended up with was an overnight stay and being taken less seriously in the future.
