to want to cry on hearing my neighbour is going to get another cat..

Justonemorecardi · 03/02/2014 13:35

My neighbour had two cats until the summer when they moved out for 3 months while their house was renovated. They came back daily to feed them but one went missing in the trauma of it all and never came back.

The other cat comes for its daily poo in my garden and I've been out gardening this weekend and there is a whole winters worth of poo in my borders and under our kitchen staircase (external spiral thing with plants underneath) - its disgusting.

Last year I told her what was happening and she just listened but said she didn't know what to do about it and her husband just stood their pretending to vomit.

I've just heard they're planning to buy another cat to replace the missing one - I want to cry. Why can't they train the cats to go in a litter tray? Surely if you live in a city its obvious it has to poo in someone's garden, so its antisocial and selfish to not train it?

would you rather they kept the cat indoors?

Yes. I had a cat who lived for 19 years as an indoor cat. She survived quite nicely and lived a very contented life. And she didn't end up under the wheels of a car, chased by a dog or poisoned by an unhappy neighbour.

You get a pet, then you need to take responsibility for keeping it on your own property and safe.

Captain, your grandma sounds AWESOME!!!!!

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 04/02/2014 08:34

I would try and include evidence that it was my cat when you dumped cat poo over the fence, cause otherwise I'd just put it right back again.

Gigondas · 04/02/2014 08:54

our neighbours 2 cats used to be regular visitors- not that I minded-until my dc were born . Would you like to borrow them as deterrent?

I never noticed their poo as opposed to fox poo etc as don't DNA test or do "dr" Gillian mckeith type testing when am clearing the garden.

AutumnStar · 04/02/2014 09:05

Captain and Shitehawke, I know it's early still but do you need a lie down? I know it's frustrating when you don't get the reaction you're hoping for but there comes a time at some point when you have to give up.

In all seriousness think most pet owners would be happy to come and clear up their cat's shit if requested. In the OP's case (although she has long gone and I don't blame her) her neighbour sounds like a bit of an arse. That isn't the fault of her cat though. The cat is, you know, just being a living thing. One of the indicators of a living thing is excretion.

Think the water squirter suggestions and citrus peel are good ones. Anything that doesn't harm an animal, basically. Not just a cat.

Sparklingbrook · 04/02/2014 09:33

Do you know what? That's the 2nd time i have been called a c**t on MN this week.
Once for watching Top Gear, and now for being a cat owner.

Heads to Flouncers Corner.....

HaroldLloyd · 04/02/2014 09:35

Use of AWESOME, further evidence amassed that Shitehawk is a teenage boy.

I am rather hoping Capitan was being sarky.

If not your nan needs an asbo.

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 04/02/2014 09:41

Someone who takes pleasure in hurting and killing animals, needs much more than an ASBO.

VegetariansTasteLikeChicken · 04/02/2014 09:47

Get a dog yourself?

Shitehawke · 04/02/2014 09:49

Her grandma needs a medal. Anyway, off for a days skateboarding and drinking alchopops in the park...oh wait, that was 20 years ago when I was a teenage GIRL.

I know its shocking to the hand wringers, but maybe you should just accept that some people won't martyr themselves for your pets, and will behave like captains grandma. Toughen up, or dont keep pets that ruin people's daily enjoyment of their property.

Sparklingbrook · 04/02/2014 09:51

It's been deleted Shite. Grin

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 04/02/2014 09:51

There is a significant difference between getting annoyed at cat shit (fair enough) and not wanting to martyr yourself for your pets, and actively murdering someone else's family pet and enjoying it. You don't need a medal, you need professional help.

Shitehawke · 04/02/2014 09:53

I dont think you can murder animals.....its destruction of property.

lottieandmia · 04/02/2014 09:55

Unfortunately there really are horrible people who think it's ok to poison a defenceless animal. I know of two people whose cats were deliberately poisoned Sad

limitedperiodonly · 04/02/2014 09:58

I wish people wouldn't ask for posts like captain's to be deleted.

They should stand because whether they're true or a fevered fantasy the poster just looks fucking weird and the sort of person who should be ignored until they get bored and go away.

CaptainGrinch · 04/02/2014 10:01

LOL, obviously too early to be Sarky for some people!! Grin

As far as I know, Grannie never killed a cat or called cat owners Cunts (that was me!!) -but obviously the thought of her doing so was too much for some gentle soul!

Sparklingbrook · 04/02/2014 10:02

I think the worst bit is that there are people exactly like that Captain so no reason to believe that wasn't the truth. Sad

Shitehawke · 04/02/2014 10:04

Dammit captain, I had already imagined her with a walking stick covered in notches to mark her kills.

AutumnStar · 04/02/2014 10:06

Sad but true, Sparkling Sad

It's deeply, deeply weird.

Shitehawke · 04/02/2014 10:18

I think its weird to enjoy inflicting your pets dirty habits on long suffering neighbors to the point that they snap.

2tiredtocare · 04/02/2014 10:21

Is a cat pooing 'a dirty habit' !!

AutumnStar · 04/02/2014 10:22

Don't worry, Shite. My cats go in their litter tray or my garden and, crucially, my neighbours aren't completely deranged, so I think it's all fine.
