to want to cry on hearing my neighbour is going to get another cat..

Justonemorecardi · 03/02/2014 13:35

My neighbour had two cats until the summer when they moved out for 3 months while their house was renovated. They came back daily to feed them but one went missing in the trauma of it all and never came back.

The other cat comes for its daily poo in my garden and I've been out gardening this weekend and there is a whole winters worth of poo in my borders and under our kitchen staircase (external spiral thing with plants underneath) - its disgusting.

Last year I told her what was happening and she just listened but said she didn't know what to do about it and her husband just stood their pretending to vomit.

I've just heard they're planning to buy another cat to replace the missing one - I want to cry. Why can't they train the cats to go in a litter tray? Surely if you live in a city its obvious it has to poo in someone's garden, so its antisocial and selfish to not train it?

Betty, are you just on this thread to stalk me?? Weirdo.

limitedperiodonly · 03/02/2014 16:18

People talking about the impossibility of training cats are talking shit.

My cat shits and wees in the litter tray, not in the rest of the house. His previous owner didn't train him to do that. His mother did. Cats are like that. It's dogs that need toilet-training.

I know that because I've had both.

Shitehawke · 03/02/2014 16:18

I just hope cat heaven had litter trays.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 03/02/2014 16:18

What?? Don't flatter yourself love, I am on this thread because, god forbid I have an opinion.

Shitehawke · 03/02/2014 16:22

Yeah betty, mostly about me. I'm flattered.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 03/02/2014 16:23

Well, as you are the only idiot on here who said they would poison a cat.........

Seriously, do fuck off now, there's a dear!

Shitehawke · 03/02/2014 16:25

No, betty, you do one. Your only contribution has been trying to piss me off, not working lovey.

Tulip26 · 03/02/2014 16:29

I have one who will be out all day, then come in and use the litter box. PITA!

SnookyPooky · 03/02/2014 16:30

Snort at 'cat shit bingo'.
I have 13 cats.

NewtRipley · 03/02/2014 16:31

My own cat used to crap in my garden (she obviously had not read the books that say they don't do it in their own backyards). It is disgusting, and made the garden smell horrible, and no matter what we tried, it did not work, and actually we decided it wasn't fair to make her crap in someone else's garden. She now has a tray.

When neighbouring cats come in the garden we make noise to chase them off, and sometimes use a water pistol.

I wouldn't mind if someone did that to my cat.

Tulip26 · 03/02/2014 16:32

Meant to add, try the stuff they sell in B&Q, worth a go: www.diy.com/nav/garden/garden-care-watering/pest-weed-control/animal_control/-specificproducttype-cat___dog_repellents

I agree they should not get another cat if they don't take care of the one they've got, shameful.

oldgrandmama · 03/02/2014 16:33

Oh dear. I am an old Crazy Cat Lady. My cat has a litter tray for when she's kept it at night, or if I'm out, but during the day, she's free range. She does crap in next door's garden and lucky, they're lovely, understanding people and don't get too narky when she poos on their herb garden or salad patch. In return, I give them loads of home-made bread, buns and also handsome Christmas presents to keep them happy and tolerant of cat crap.

Honestly, not a lot you can do about cats - they gotta go where they gotta go. Perhaps OP should get one of her own ... nothing like a lovely warm pussy cuddling up to you on a cold night, purring away and kneading you with its lovely little paws (hopefully with claws sheathed).

Go on, OP, you know you want to. I recommend Cats Protection. Lots of lovely little pusscats wanting good homes.

Shitehawke · 03/02/2014 16:39

I guess ones mans fetid stink is another's 'nice'.

AuroraRoared · 03/02/2014 16:41

I can't believe how bloody precious some people are. It is the outside - there will be shit of all descriptions there, along with mouldy things and all sorts of other revolting crap it is simply best not to think about.

I think people who don't like cats very much actually enjoy finding cat shit so they can come on to MN and have a good old moan about it. Half of it is probably from foxes anyway.

OP - none of your business whether your neighbour decides to get another cat.

catsmother · 03/02/2014 16:41

Robin ... without the benefit of "cat-cam" Grin I don't know for sure where each of my cats poos. I do know that the two litter trays I keep inside do get used by someone because I clean them out each day. Although all my cats go outside, it would appear that at least one of them sometimes prefers to go inside - maybe if it's cold or raining. Also, like I said, I keep a clear patch of soft earth to encourage them to go in my garden - and that gets cleared regularly too, it's most definitely used. When I go walking and two or three cats usually follow me I've seen them use the fields as a loo .... these aren't pretty flower meadows BTW that people walk across, they're furrowed fields for crops, so don't think they're annoying anyone by using that ! It's just that I don't get much poo on the grass .... like I said am pretty sure it's hedgehogs' but occasionally you get muntjacks too so who knows.

I'm not sure what more I can do short of putting nappies on them. Maybe that's an idea for Dragon's Den .......

mumblechum1 · 03/02/2014 16:42

Sorry haven't read this gargantuan thread, however my dh is a keen gardener and has tried everything to stop the neighbourhood cats coming in teh garden.

The two things which definitely work are a gadget which sends a sound wave audible only to cats which scares tehm off, and one which sends cold water shooting out when they go past (this is fun if you don't happen to be a cat and are pegging teh washing out Hmm).

Have a google, they're easily available.

AutumnStar · 03/02/2014 16:43

Shitehawk are you always this rude or do cats make you go a bit weird?

SnookyPooky · 03/02/2014 16:50

Currently we have 2 cats on the sofa with us, 4 on the rug and 2 in our bedroom. The other 5 are out. All are litter trained but not much need really, we have a mahoosive garden with fields all round.
We would have more cats if we could afford it.

Shitehawke · 03/02/2014 16:57

I dont care much for cats, I save my real anger for their wantonly deluded owners. Yes, your houses stink. No, cats dont always bury poo. No, Its not my job to keep your pet away from my garden.

End of.

HaroldLloyd · 03/02/2014 16:57

I rarely see a more apt username, shitehawk.

AutumnStar · 03/02/2014 17:00

Hahahaha Grin.

End of

Well, that settles it then.

Sparklingbrook · 03/02/2014 17:05
