to want to cry on hearing my neighbour is going to get another cat..

Justonemorecardi · 03/02/2014 13:35

My neighbour had two cats until the summer when they moved out for 3 months while their house was renovated. They came back daily to feed them but one went missing in the trauma of it all and never came back.

The other cat comes for its daily poo in my garden and I've been out gardening this weekend and there is a whole winters worth of poo in my borders and under our kitchen staircase (external spiral thing with plants underneath) - its disgusting.

Last year I told her what was happening and she just listened but said she didn't know what to do about it and her husband just stood their pretending to vomit.

I've just heard they're planning to buy another cat to replace the missing one - I want to cry. Why can't they train the cats to go in a litter tray? Surely if you live in a city its obvious it has to poo in someone's garden, so its antisocial and selfish to not train it?

GET A DOG. Grin

ComposHat · 03/02/2014 15:36

Cat shit, blah get a grip.

All animals shit, foxes shit, wild birds shit.

Why single out cats?

HavantGuard · 03/02/2014 15:37

Getting the right dog may completely stop the problem in your garden. The next house down though ...

HavantGuard · 03/02/2014 15:39

Cats have owners. They are not part of the local wildlife.

thecatneuterer · 03/02/2014 15:40

OP just think yourself lucky you don't live next door to me:) You wouldn't believe how many cats I have ... Really, two cats is nothing. It could be so much worse:)

Shitehawke · 03/02/2014 15:42

Dolphins shit too. Point compo???? We are talking about animals kept in one area, who routinely shit in the same area. Not wild animals.

ComposHat · 03/02/2014 15:43

Yes, but there will still be shit deposited on your lawn, regardless of the source. It is impossible to train a free roaming animal like a cat NOT to shit outside (you've heard the expression, 'like 'herding cats'?) they are not known for their bidibility or receptiveness to training.

If there weren't cats out and about in your garden, you'd soon notice an upswell in the mice and rant population.

ComposHat · 03/02/2014 15:45

But if it makes you feel any better op go to your neighbours' front lawn, whack your kegs down and curl a steam great turdone off.

Shitehawke · 03/02/2014 15:48

There are no foxes here. Bird poo is only dangerous if breathed in in powdered form. Rats and mice only live where there is food anyway, so unless I start a feeding program I think I'm safe. And if there's were no cats, I might get more wild birds to my garden, I like them!

AutumnStar · 03/02/2014 15:48

Shitehawk are you not bored yet? No-one is taking any notice of your goading bullshit attempts.

Thread appears to be taking the usual course.

HavantGuard · 03/02/2014 15:51

I already did.

AutumnStar · 03/02/2014 15:52

Oh sorry Havant. So you did. Nearly a full house.

bzoo · 03/02/2014 15:52

My cats are indoor cats because Last cat I lived with was poisoned Confused

Next doors cat craps in our garden despite us also having two dogs! I just scoop it up and dispose of it. Meh.

Agree with autumnstar.

AutumnStar · 03/02/2014 15:57

How very rude, Shite. Neither is your cat poisoning bollocks.

MummytoMog · 03/02/2014 15:57

I hope someone has reiterated the garden hose point - yes it knows you don't want it in the garden, but you need to SCARE it. Shouting isn't scary. Being sprayed with a hose is. I have four cats, who I try to encourage to crap in my garden with a nice soft wood chip and sandy bit of flower bed, but my advice to my neighbours is always to spray or chuck a bucket of water over my cats if they're being annoying.

I'm ignoring the crazy ass mofo cat poisoners btw.

Scarletohello · 03/02/2014 15:59

Since cats have a legal right to roam I guess they're entitled to shit wherever they want...

I have this problem. I sometimes see a cats meeting taking place in my garden and I have to chase them away. If I knew who the cat owners were I would shovel up the poo and shove it in the their letterboxes! I have two children and it is a nightmare when they step in it when playing in the garden.

Notfootball · 03/02/2014 16:05

I thought most cats buried their poo? I have seen foxes shit right on my lawn and on my drive though. Now that's a stinky problem...

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 03/02/2014 16:08

...and there was me restraining myself from telling Shite to fuck off!

Seriously, it's cat shit, not anthrax!

limitedperiodonly · 03/02/2014 16:13

I've no idea OP but I sympathise. And I can imagine the 'Ooh! You can't train a cat. He won't use a litter tray.'

Bollocks.

I've recently inherited an older indoor cat. He's never been outside. He appears to be perfectly happy. In fact, sometimes I'd quite like to swap lives.

I do allow him out in my small walled garden because it's safe and he likes to sniff around. But I wouldn't inflict him on other people because cat shit isn't nice and I don't want him to get run over and he would because the roads round here are very busy and he's reckless.

I clean his litter tray every day. The idea of finding that cat shit in my garden would enrage me. And that's just one cat's shit output.

When I was young we had cats. They had a litter tray that they used. I guess they did shit in other people's gardens too but at least some of it was confined to our house because they were our pets.
