Maybe I'm being miserable but my fb feed is full of friends from uni/school downing pints and nominating others
To do the same.

I'm 30 and I'm cringing at how they haven't moved on from the whole student drinking games culture.

It's highlighting to me past it I am Smile but I'd much rather be enjoying a cuppa snuggling my 2 boys.

Anyone else?

Just as a side note, my friends are clearly more sensible and have just being doing it with straight up booze.

MrsMoon76 · 02/02/2014 09:58

I saw one this weekend of my 20 year old cousin down a pint of beer followed by a pint of vodka. That can bloody well kill you. Though the fact that half the family on his fb have told his mother means there is no guarantee that he will last the week once she gets hold of him...irish mammies should not be crossed

Lj8893 · 02/02/2014 10:09

Its all over my Facebook feed. I'm 25, most of the people on my friends list doing it are between 30 and 50. And then a few younger ones.
Some of them have been quite funny, a few mixed alcoholic pints, nothing too bad. My dp got nominated and did it, was very drunk afterwards but was fine. He nominated me and I laughed, not a chance!!!
However, I have seen people putting window cleaner, vegetable oil, handwash, raw eggs, piss!! Shit!!!!!!!! Etc etc and those people need to grow the fuck up!!!!!!!
As for that Internet "hard man" doing the rounds biting the head off a chick and snorting protein powder, what an absolute tool.

Smoorikins · 02/02/2014 10:10

'Just one drink' is fine if its a pint of beer. A pint of vodka on the other hand, is just dangerous.

Lj8893 · 02/02/2014 10:13

The other one that's been doing the rounds is the delightful chap who downs a selection of foods and drinks (separately) and then throws them all up into a pint glass which he then downs. Vile.

Musicaltheatremum · 02/02/2014 10:14

Ah, so it's everywhere. My daughter posted a video of this. Some red bull with 3 shots in it. She is 20 and at drama school so thought this was just them. She doesn't drink much usually as she's a singer. I just thought it was stupid and probably would have done the same at her age but hadn't realised it was a craze. She also hadn't been drinking before hand.

EricNorthmansFangbanger · 02/02/2014 10:15

Both DH & I have seen it on our Facebook feeds. A lot of people I've seen are only drinking pints of beer or cider, which in my opinion is fine. When they start mixing stuff, that's when you get the problems. DH was/is a "rugby lad" and a lot of his friends back from the uni rugby team are doing mixes.

Lj8893 · 02/02/2014 10:16

Saying all that, when my mil has done it, and I haven't, I'm starting to think I have become a miserable old woman.

rockybalboa · 02/02/2014 10:17

I've never heard of it! Clearly me and all my FB friends are too old/boring for this sort of thing. Not that I'd do it anyway, sounds gross.

fifi669 · 02/02/2014 10:59

Loads of my fb friends are doing it. Nothing dangerous really. They tend to down a pint, have a shot then an alcopop or something. A few have downed bottles of wine or liquid egg white/raw steak/vodka combos but they're the rugby lads and for them it's pretty standard.

If you're stupid enough to drink fertiliser or something then you're on borrowed time anyway!

Latara · 02/02/2014 12:28

I saw the article on the Irish Dj on my feed earlier; I didn't bother to read it but noticed that the women who shared it named lists of friends - now I realise they were nominations. These are mothers in their 30s! It's a bit daft.

Saying that I know some women in their 50s who would happily take the challenge!

It's not for me though as I don't drink anyway.

SouthernComforts · 02/02/2014 12:32

Nearly every man on my FB has done one, including one who drank a pint of his own piss. Others include downing a pint then jumping into a freezing lake, driving cars, driving machinery etc.

I called it on Wednesday that someone would die this weekend.

WhereIsMyHat · 02/02/2014 12:33

Ah, last night I was out with a couple of friends who kept talking about this but I had no idea about it. I think it's mainly because my feed is full of pictures of people's kids and babies. They're the same age as me (Kate 20s/ early 30s) but all child free. I wouldn't have done it at 18 and I certainly wouldn't do it now!

WhereIsMyHat · 02/02/2014 12:34

Is it an irish thing? All of the people I mentioned above are Irish.

SouthernComforts · 02/02/2014 12:37

Nope I'm in England.

MotherOfChickens · 02/02/2014 12:41

It appears to have escalated to a full bottle as my bil and his friends have been appearing on my FB feed downing bottles of wine in one. One is a video of a naked policeman who lives in our village using his small dog to cover his bits, not sure I'll be able to look him in the eye when he's out walking his dog again.

MotherOfChickens · 02/02/2014 12:43

Oh and I'm in England too. The ones I've seen are all fathers in their late 30's

LCHammer · 02/02/2014 12:52

Never heard of this.

pinkgirlythoughts · 02/02/2014 13:05

Definitely seems to be a craze amongst farmer-types and uni-sport-team-types. I went to a school full of farmers, and DH was heavily involved in sports at uni, so both of our Facebook feeds have been full of it. I've been all po-faced, "I can't believe people in their late twenties are engaging in this ridiculous behaviour!" and DH has been more "I know I'll be nominated next, I wonder what I'll have to drink?!" Hmm

BigMonstersSmashCities · 02/02/2014 13:16

I have never heard of it, but I don't see why I should spend the whole of the rest of my life being delicate and sensible just because I'm a mother.

MrsPennyapple · 02/02/2014 14:43

Who has suggested that you should, BigMonster?

KickThatDirtOffYourShoulder · 02/02/2014 16:17

It's all over my feed too. I'm three years younger than you and am also married with two children but I still enjoy nights out and a few drinks. I don't do things like this because I am a lightweight but if doesn't make me feel past it.

SayraT · 02/02/2014 16:40

I've just been nominated but have put a post on facebook saying very sorry but nomination was wasted because there is no way I am downing a pint of anything and having the video on facebook.

I don't even understand why people are watching the videos!?

squeakytoy · 02/02/2014 17:15

I have a lot of people on my Facebook.. Age group mainly 20-40 and can honestly say I have seen nothing of this on my feed...

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumWaitWHAT · 02/02/2014 17:33

OH and I are from a mainly-farmer area, and are at uni with a lot of sporting types so this is coming up on our newsfeed a lot.... thankfully most people are just posting "no it's stupid" or drinking a pint of milk instead.
