No, he's my partner. I also have a best friend (female). I think they are different things.

GreenPetal94 · 02/02/2014 16:51

I do talk to my partner the most, and we get on great, but I still think a female best friend is different.

HesterShaw · 02/02/2014 16:51

Yes absolutely. No one even comes close, apart from my sister.

No, it's a different type of relationship to the one I have with my closest friends. I don't think that's a bad thing.

greenhill · 02/02/2014 17:15

Yes. Since 1989 when I first met him.

BigMonstersSmashCities · 02/02/2014 17:32

No, he isn't. I don't think he finds what I'm thinking very interesting.

Fortunately, I do have a best friend.

NearTheWindmill · 02/02/2014 17:37

I have a best friend from school
A best friend from my one term at Poly
A best friend from my first job
A best friend from an interest I developed in the 80's
A best friend (probably my true - everything clicked best friend) from when I was pg with dd and had matching bumps and kept passing with out buggies.

Because of the way our lives have swerved and changed I haven't seen the first for about 5 years, the 2nd for a about 2 years, the third for about 7 years, the fourth last week, and the fifth about twice a year.

But DH who is my sun, moon, stars and a huge part of my life is my bestest, truest friend and the one I would struggle to live without.

Bowlersarm · 02/02/2014 17:40

Yes.

TheDoctorsNewKidneys · 02/02/2014 17:42

Yes, absolutely. We were friends before we got together and he's the one who's been there for me through everything. He hasn't run when things have been hard. He's my rock.

NewtRipley · 02/02/2014 17:46

Yes, he is. I can be myself completely with him.

We have been together since we were 20 (24 years ago)

My other best friend is my BF from school - age 11.

ByTheSea · 02/02/2014 17:51

Yes.

NotAnotherPackedLunchBox · 02/02/2014 17:54

Yes except when he is driving my car Grin

Ragwort · 02/02/2014 17:56

No - like others I have some very good friendships - DH and I have been married a long time and have a relatively good marriage but I don't value the same strengths that we have in marriage as being the same as in a close 'friendship'.

GoshAnneGorilla · 02/02/2014 18:33

Yes, I would say so, even though we are incredibly different.

MrsKoala · 02/02/2014 18:43

No. My exH was my best friend and that was the problem. We were just really really good friends who agreed about everything but there was no real spark.

DH and i don't seem to like each other most of the time, have nothing in common and are not in any way the way 'friends' are. But we do love each other and we are committed to each other.

That and i don't actually have any friends, best or otherwise.

redexpat · 02/02/2014 18:55

Not really. My relationship with him is very different from my girlfriends.

redexpat · 02/02/2014 18:56

And agree 100% with Ragworth

Only1scoop · 02/02/2014 18:56

No
Thank goodness
