I just think it's quite unfair really.

I did ballet for like 4 or 5 years when I was quite small. Good toes, naughty toes etc etc.

I really REALLY wanted hard to be a ballerina, and I still do, so imagine my shock and dismay when I realise last night that some lovely, bendy, pointy-toes Russian lady is dancing Giselle partnered by Carlos Acosta at the Royal Opera House and I'm just WATCHING her do it at the cinema in Ellesmere Port.

Who can I complain to about this please? There's just no ballet justice in this world

YANBU. I did ballet from the age of 13 to 17 years. I should be Darcey fucking Bussell by now!

I feel the same. I read Ballet Shoes many, many times but didn't actually have any lessons.

I used to do ballet, but according to bitchy boots ballet madame I had to quit horse riding at once as all it will do to a girl is "give a rather large bottom and thighs like a man".

She was right about that. . Not for me the willowy élégance of a swan, but rather a physique once memorably described as "useful looking".

I begged my mum from the age of three to go to ballet. She finally let me go when I was 5. I wasn't put forward for an exam because the teacher didn't think I was ready. My mum made me feel awful about it. "So and so is ready, why are you not ready? It's just a waste of money."

She made me feel so guilty that I said I wouldn't go anymore.

When I was older I did Disco, Latin and ballroom. I had to give that up because my mum made me get a Saturday job.

But I was so proud last week watching her ballet class at her parents evening.

I have all the grace if an elephant. Apparently dh has fabulous natural turnout but he can't put one got in front of the other in time.

I am not at all liftable I'm afraid. No delicate little dancer behaviour for me. I'm too tall and too muscular. However I can carry my own suitcase and I am also a semi retired martial artist so I can throw a man roughly to the ground with an entirely satisfying thwack.

These are the things which must console me now.

Oooooh were you really there live Gigondas?! Wow. I love the live cinema screenings but to have seen her dance with your own actual eyeballs must have been something else. Didn't she do total crazer at the end of act 1 well? Proper bonkers, but elegantly.

I have finally come to terms with the fact that I'm not a champion show jumper. I have forgiven my parents for not buying me a horse, even though i asked for one every birthday and Christmas since I was 9. I thought they were holding me back, but they're right that I would never have looked after it.

I'm quite disappointed that Ive never be asked to appear in Strictly. I know what dresses Ill have, what pro I'm going to dance with, music, the works. Bastards.

I can only blame myself when after 6 years of ballet I discovered boys and that was the end of my dancing career. Now I am living vicariously through my DDs and hoping that they have more willpower than their mum
