We are on a meter and pay 6 monthly. Our bills tend to be in the region of £200 to £250 six monthly. This sounds really expensive. We are a family of 5 btw.
Just wondered what others pay and how many people are in the household.
Thank you

we weren't metered and on Thames, and had a charge of about 500/year. but if you ask for a meter and they can't install one, they automatically take 1/3 off your bill for asking.

so, i think we pay about 30/month now.

MoominAndMiniMoom · 11/06/2014 22:13

We've just had ours through; £75 for the quarter.

Plomino · 11/06/2014 22:32

We are metered , with Anglian water , and just gone into mains drainage so have just had the first 6 months bill in . £900 ! Which is when we realised that we've had a leak on the stable yard which has basically lost us a litre of water every 5 minutes for the last 4 months . Bloody shitloads , which we'll have to pay for as we've already had our one off emergency allowance from the last leak . Great . Other than that we use about 800 litres a day , for 7 of us including 3 clean freak teenagers , 3 loads of washing , 2 dishwasher loads minimum , 3 thirsty horses plus assorted loo flushes .

deakymom · 11/06/2014 22:49

we are not on a meter and pay just under 7 a week we paid more on a meter so we moved to a property without a water meter

Rubberstamp · 11/06/2014 23:02

Thames water - £20 a month on a metre.
Family of 4, 6 at weekends.
My bill keeps telling me we use the water expected of a single person. Not sure how, me and partner bath every night (separately) as do kids. Dishwasher and washing machine and I water my many pot plants most evenings.

x2boys · 11/06/2014 23:08

£47 \month two adults two children in a three bed semi where I used to live I had a horrendous time with united utilities I got a bill for£4000 which went down to£2000 for two years they kept trying to up my direct debit from £30\month to 300\month I had countless conversations with them and they kept insisting I owed the money but couldn't tell me how or why eventually I contacted consumer council for water and it turns out some idiot had put a decimal point in the wrong place on my account and despite my many phonecalls nobody could be bothers to check my bill properly they ended up owing me!!

hiddenhome · 11/06/2014 23:22

£600 a year. We're not metered.

fanoftheinvisibleman · 11/06/2014 23:23

48 a month, no meter. I was put off meters over a decade ago when we were paying 80 pounds a month and were still in debt. We had no children and were out 12 hours a day. No garden watering, no diswasher and washer was on 3 times a week. I still think we were paying for the whole row of townhouses! Wild horses couldn't make me volunteer for a meter after that.

SallyMcgally · 11/06/2014 23:24

£68 a month, but we're South West Water sadly.

MrsKoala · 11/06/2014 23:33

2 bed flat, me, dh and toddler = £40 a month

arethereanyleftatall · 11/06/2014 23:54

Eh? Only read first and last page, but I only pay £10 a month?!?and have done fir last 7 years. 4 bed house, 4 people.
Fuck, I hope I'm not going to be slapped with a bill for thousands. I had no idea people pay thus much for water!

MrsAlexVause · 11/06/2014 23:56

Two of us in a 2 bed flat and it's about £50 a month. I rarely pay it because I think it's excessive (and I can't afford it)

melissa83 · 12/06/2014 06:44

£72 a month, live in a flat its been that price even when it was the 2 of us with no bath or washing machine

LynetteScavo · 12/06/2014 07:00

£69 per month - family of five, not on a meter. DH is adamant it would be more with a meter.

but then, he loves to wash his car

financialwizard · 12/06/2014 07:02

£384 for 6 months. Family of 4. Anglian Water. On a meter.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 12/06/2014 07:12

South East Water, £30/month including sewerage since we were compulsorily metered, for 2 adults and 2 children in a 3 bed house. Was £240/year under rateable value.

Turquoisetamborine · 12/06/2014 07:22

We are metered, three bed house, large garden which is watered daily, three in our household. £44pm. Bargain I think as we all bath or shower daily.

Cumberlover76 · 12/06/2014 07:30

We are South West Water on a meter and pay £50 dd each month and that is taking into account the government payment for those in the SW. We are 2 full time working adults and one full time nursery 2yo. SWW are a rip off, but we have no choice. 2 showers per day, DD goes in with DH in the eve, dishwasher daily and washing machine pretty much daily.

There is 2 of us and where we are now it's £24pcm. Where we were before it was £83pcm. My jaw dropped when I moved to this area two years ago, I couldn't believe how cheap it was Grin

HalfPintPickle · 12/06/2014 19:01

We're metered but have neve had to give a reading. We live in a flat and am assuming the guy comes to it 6 monthly as the meters are outside.

We're 2 adults and a toddle and our bills are 90-100 bi-annually.
Now I'm worried we're not paying enough!

FatherSpodoKomodo · 12/06/2014 19:17

I thought ours was great when we moved and got a meter - we were paying £90 bi-annually.

Then after 4 years of living here Thames Water realised they should have been charging us for sewage waste and sent us a £400 bill. I didn't realise as we moved from a Southern Water only area 8 miles away.

Today I have a bill from A debt collection agency saying we owe SW nearly £500. Considering I paid our last bill of £145 I am not impressed! Had it with bloody water companies!

PickleMobile · 12/06/2014 19:17

Yorkshire Water, 3 bed semi, 2 adults 1 15 month old, metered = £29 but I think we are in debit!

annielouise · 12/06/2014 20:25

I've recently moved. At the old house I was paying about £30 per month - 2 people, both showering every day (electric shower), washing machine on maybe 4 times a week, no dishwasher. I move within the same water board and now my bills are £55 a month. The only difference as far as I can tell is I now use a dishwasher - every day or every 1.5 days, washing machine habits the same but we now have a power shower. Could that be using the extra £25 a month? It's doing my head in. I thought a dishwasher used less water - I was washing dishes once sometimes twice a day. Nothing else has changed. Water board don't want to know.

arethereanyleftatall · 12/06/2014 22:53

Fatherspodo - I'll bet that's happening to us too, given that we seem to be paying so much less than everyone else. Do you have to pay it if it's their mistake and it's been going on for years? I'm sure u read somewhere they can only go back 12 months....
