We are on a meter and pay 6 monthly. Our bills tend to be in the region of £200 to £250 six monthly. This sounds really expensive. We are a family of 5 btw.
Just wondered what others pay and how many people are in the household.
Thank you

Whoa, just realising how much we have been screwed over by an unfixed water leak - our bill with south west water was over £1000 for the year - 1 adult, 2 kids (not sure about meter), no dishwasher, no hosepipes, only ever use the shower, why the @?!& is it so high!

maddening · 24/01/2014 16:48

Not on a water meter and we pay £220 per year.

piratecat · 24/01/2014 17:49

£50 a month on meter, one adult one child.

South West robbing Bastard Water

Marylou62 · 24/01/2014 18:06

South West Water , over £1,000 a year. No, not a mistake,£1,000 a year! and we have the 2nd most expensive house prices and I think one of the lowest average wages. Apparently we pay more to keep the beaches cleaner.

cardiandcrocs · 24/01/2014 18:08

ethelb · 24/01/2014 18:09

AnnieOats · 24/01/2014 18:37

£735 for the year with Yorkshire Water We're not on a meter though.

Zamboni · 24/01/2014 18:38

£54 PCM for 2 adults, 2 DC.

lobsterkiller · 24/01/2014 19:24

I'm on a meter with Yorkshire water, its just me in the house and I pay £18 per month.

glendatheveryexcitedwitch · 24/01/2014 19:33

I pay 2 different water companies - one for sewage and one for water and pay them both £38 a month - which seems to me bloody extortionate!!!!

lljkk · 24/01/2014 19:48

£26/month; we have soak away so reduction for no run-off.

Seabright · 24/01/2014 19:53

Three adults, one child, Thames Water - £17.00.

I thought that was high and was going to query it next week. Apparently not high at all!

LunchLadyWannabe · 24/01/2014 19:55

£60 a month, water meter, theres me, dh and 15 month old dd

WeddingComingUp · 24/01/2014 20:08

£41 pm with Dwr Cymru but we're not on a meter

bumbumsmummy · 24/01/2014 20:16

£40 per month and we are on a meter but as a rule of thumb

If you have more bedrooms in your house then people you should be on a meter

If you have more people then bedrooms you'll do better on rates

nannynick · 24/01/2014 20:29

Very small flat, one person, no meter... £207 a year (water+sewage) £107 for the water part.
Would love to know how that compares to a small flat with a meter, if anyone happens to know.

Happydaze77 · 24/01/2014 20:30

£34 per month over 12 months. Metered.

2 adults and 1 toddler. Adults shower/ toddler baths approx. 5x per week. 4-5 loads of washing per week. no swimming pool
Severn Trent - seems expensive having read this thread.

However some companies have more fixed charges - for example we are covered by the water company for any problems with drains/outflow and inflow and so have no need for rip off homeserve insurances.

silversun · 24/01/2014 21:36

These threads always give me the rage! Over £1000 per year with the robbing bastards at south west water, can't believe how cheap it is everywhere else.

eatyouwithaspoon · 24/01/2014 22:28

over £700, meter 4 people dishwasher and chose w/m with water efficiency in mind.
Another one being robbed by SWW Angry

Mikkii · 24/01/2014 22:31

Family of 5 plus granny here for half the week. Usually about £100 per quarter.

Last quarter DH put the outside tap on the clean the dogs water bucket. I found thus out 2 days and a minor flood later. That WAC bad enough, then the bill for the quarter was £212. He is still in the doghouse!

HaplessHousewife · 25/01/2014 08:13

Thames Water seems cheap compared to all the others. I guess it's just economies of scale as they have so many customers. I just looked on their website and they have 9 million clean water customers and 14 million wastewater!
