To wish reported posts didn't get reported back like this?

I - along with many others - reported two posts earlier with regards to a very sensitive subject.

There was two reasons - primarily because the posts were appallingly awful, but also because I've been through that - and I'm a bit worried its happening again right now - and it was somewhat of a trigger.

I didn't realise when you reported posts that the subject line of the e-mail you receive from MNHQ was the content of the post.

So in my e-mail this afternoon I've had two e-mails with hideous subject lines.

AIBU to think there's a better way to do it?

I agree I think they could send a code like digits

MrsTerryPratchett · 23/01/2014 18:28

Am I hallucinating? I always thought mine said something like MN Case Number 12347.

Onesleeptillwembley · 23/01/2014 18:37

I think it's so you can distinguish if you've made a couple of reports. I think it's the best way of doing it.

Fleta · 23/01/2014 18:37

MrsTerryPratchett - I have a code and then a copy of each post in the title of the e-mail.

Code would be sufficient IMO.

I agree. I must look more carefully!

Buzzybee123 · 23/01/2014 19:08

I just got a case number, but it was part of a mass response

GlitzAndGiggles · 23/01/2014 19:12

The 2 I've received always had the comment as the title

HotCrossPun · 23/01/2014 19:26

This thread should be in site stuff so MNHQ can respond.

LongTailedTit · 23/01/2014 20:10

I'm with you on this one OP, some twatty troll once named me in a post saying "(myoldusername) I will rape you" - I duly reported, and was actually quite upset to open my email the next morning to see the original comment in my Inbox email subject line. :(
I'd far rather see a generic "Reply from MNHQ about reported post" type message.

MoominsYonisAreScary · 23/01/2014 20:13

I reported those posts too, bloody awful

Jbck · 23/01/2014 20:39

I've reported and although posts were deleted I never received a response.

Do MNHQ always respond?

Agree that they should have a generic title 're your reported post/thread response.

StealthPolarBear · 23/01/2014 20:42

Good point OP and LTT - hope you're both OK and OP I really hope things are OK.
This stuff doesn't bother me but I've never had anything even close to that level of nastiness :(

GlitzAndGiggles · 23/01/2014 21:07

How can someone make a joke or threat about rape which destroys many people's lives Confused pure evil

AmyMumsnet · 24/01/2014 10:07

Hi everyone,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

We're really sorry that our email subject lines can come off as insensitive, and huge apologies to anyone who has been upset by anything we've emailed them.

The computer system we use sets the subject title automatically, and when the post is sensitive we do try to change the subject line. Unfortunately on busy days it can sometimes slip our mind, but we'll do our best to be more vigilant in future.
