The library on Phatt Island is really funny as well, I spent quite some time getting lots of books out, among them "Why x never marks the spot" by a certain I. Jones!

brightnearly · 19/01/2014 22:49

For fans: [http://www.worldofmi.com/ World of Monkey Island]]

Star Buccaneers!
I have got "Secret of Monkey Island" for the Mac - I had some gameplay problems, but might give it another go...

Beasts & Bumpkins, absolutely hilarious stuff!

Had that one too Blush

Couldn't play when small DCs were about...

Nanny0gg · 19/01/2014 23:05

My very first game when we bought a PC was Hook. unbelievably simple now.

I had the Indiana Jones games, but weren't they the ones with a really annoying part where you had to steer a hot air balloon or something to land? I always had to get my DH to do that part.

Guess who just downloaded Theme Park to play this evening...

amanita-design.net/games.html - one of my favorite game designers :)

Can't remember who asked, but in Theme Hospital you were given an empty building and had to build a reception, GP surgeries, clinics, a pharmacy and keep your hospital staffed without running out of money. You had to cure a certain number of patients. The diseases were weird and wacky like Slack Tongue, Bloaty Head, King Complex (patient thought they were Elvis).

It was quite manic. Not as funny as Dungeon Keeper though, which was very dark and got difficult fairly quickly.

Simon the Sorcerer also had some jokes that only adults would get. I came to Monkey Island a bit late in the day and remember it being funny but a little less adult.

I'm 27, by the way.

Aliama · 20/01/2014 08:49

For the dungeon Keeper fans, there's currently a game being made called war for the overworld, which is an homage to the originals. I've just checked the website and the full game should be out sometime this year. The beta is already available on Steam if you preorder the game.

Cant believe someone mentioned Beasts and Bumpkins! Thought I was the only person alive who had that game! I still play it now from time to time - 'fancy a bit of nookie?' Grin

Monkey Island is brilliant - the second one is the hardest. Sometimes I get the urge and play the games.

They should have made Monkey Island into a film, a much better storyline than pirates of the caribbean (even if Monkey Island is based on the pirates theme ride).

Beeyump · 20/01/2014 09:42

Was there a game called Knights and Merchants? I think I had a demo version.

TiggyOBE · 20/01/2014 09:52

I'm just downloading the games for a tenner. They've been "re-mastered" now. Just nicer graphics and new voices, but you can switch to classic mode if you want.

I wish somebody would put out a stable version of Grim Fandango.

juneybean · 20/01/2014 13:22

How do you play it iammrsnesbitt I can't get it to run on my PC :(

I'm sure no one playing Theme Hospital ever heard...

Hospital Administrator is cheating! A cheat is running the hospital!

JennySense · 20/01/2014 13:36

I'm just getting rid of of stuff from my Macbook to improve its running free up more space to download games

You need to change your computer settings to compatiblity mode for windows 95 juneybean. Cant remember how to do it exactly but if you google you'll find instructions. Smile

It really is the most awesome game!

'fancy a bit of rough and tumble?'
'ooooh yes please'
'wahey!' Grin

GalaxyDefender · 20/01/2014 14:20

I didn't RTFT, but just thought I'd drop this in:
Recently, Tim Schafer (the guy behind Monkey Island!) and his company got the funding on Kickstarter to make a new point'n'click adventure in the same vein. It's called Broken Age, and I'm pretty sure it's available on most of the things you can play stuff on Grin

Not sure when it's out, I think backers got their copies a few weeks ago so shouldn't be long!

TerrariaMum · 20/01/2014 15:49

28 January, I think.

Beeyump · 20/01/2014 15:52

It looks quite fun, but apparently there isn't enough opportunity to interact with the backgrounds and surrounding objects Sad

SofaKing · 20/01/2014 15:57

Beasts and bumpkins rocks!

I still have that, it is a nightmare getting it to run but lovely dh is good with compatibility mode issues and usually gets it to work for me.

Must play it again, 'Fancy a bit of rough and tumble?' Lol.

iammrsnesbitt · 20/01/2014 18:12

The day I completed Beasts and Bumpkins was a proud proud day for me. Its such a hard game I felt like a hardcore gamer Grin. Monkey Island is tough but B&B even more so.

Loved how all the men looked like west country farmers and the women were buxom wenches. Grin

Murray the demonic skull from MI is an absolute legend btw. Funniest sidekick ever.

juneybean · 20/01/2014 18:14

Ohh I've never completed it, I played it last year by installing a partition or something but cannot remember what level I got to, I kept dying of disease!

NewName123 · 20/01/2014 19:06

OMG was totally addicted to those games, takes me back............
