I loved monkey island ,best adventure games ever.
I am rubber and you are glue.
I tried to get it for my PC but failed.

Perpelxedandoverwhelmed · 19/01/2014 15:52

Oh I loved Monkey Island, but Gabriel Knight was my favourite with the little twinkly noise when you discovered a clue.

Morgause · 19/01/2014 15:54

NanettaStocker · 19/01/2014 15:59

Dungeon keeper is coming to phones and tablets!

bzoo · 19/01/2014 16:10

Aaaah monkey island. DOTT grim fandango.

Lucasarts why did you sell to Disney?!? (Aside for the 5billion dollars ConfusedHmm)

DarkTherapy · 19/01/2014 16:15

Started out with Scott Adam's Adventureland (think it was first text adventure game for home computers). Thought it was bloody great although the most you could do were the two word commands! Loved Monkey Island and so yes, I do miss Guy too. But, recently found Machinarium (for Mac too) and though it has no text it is really engaging - wish I had it all to do again!

You fight like a cow!

For my 9 year old son ..ahem

50shadesofmeh · 19/01/2014 16:17

How appropriate you fight like a dairy farmer

Beeyump · 19/01/2014 16:21

Gracious, YANBU! I adore Guybrush Threepwood, especially in the Curse of Monkey Island - the graphics in that game are amazing.

I wish that I could own a smuggle bunny Sad

Theme Hospital is another great favourite - 'Doctor required in slack tongue clinic!' etc.

CarriesPawnShop · 19/01/2014 16:22

I have Dungeon Keeper and the Deeper Dungeons Grin What's this about DK apps?

Beeyump · 19/01/2014 16:22

You're as repulsive as a monkey in a negligee!

Beeyump · 19/01/2014 16:24

Oo! Just remembered, the Broken Sword games are fun.

SpottyDottie · 19/01/2014 16:25

Big Fish Games have loads of different style games. You can also have an hours free gameplay to try them before you buy.

Sigh, this is reliving my youth. Every six months or so I fire up Theme Hospital or Dungeon keeper and play it in every spare minute for a week. Then I lapse into an insomnia induced coma and don't go near them for another six months.

I loved SIM City 2000 and the older Sims games but didn't really get on with the more recent ones.

I completed Day of the Tentacle quite a few times, and Simon. I came to Monkey Island a bit late in the day but still played it obsessively for a while.

We also had a SNES and I played Donkey Kong Country and Yoshi's Island for a while.

TerrariaMum · 19/01/2014 16:59

Somebody tell me more about Theme Hospital via PM or here please. Sounds awesome.

eyebrowsfurrowed · 19/01/2014 17:48

What's Simon?

eyebrowsfurrowed · 19/01/2014 17:53

Double Fine (Tim Schafer's new company) has got a point and click game coming out at the end of the month (well, the first half of it anyway). It's called Broken Age and it's getting pretty good reviews. Really looking forward to it myself!

brightnearly · 19/01/2014 18:25

eyebrows no no no! It's these adventure games from the mid-nineties:
Simon the Sorcerer

CrohnicallySick · 19/01/2014 18:26

I love monkey island, and my brother installed something called SCUMM on my laptop for me, and I was able to play some of the monkey islands, day of the tentacle, Zak McCracken and Sam and max on there.

PS it took me YEARS to finish Zak McCracken- me and my brother started it when we were mere youngsters and it wasn't until the advent of the Internet and walkthroughs that we were able to finish.

Spoiler alert We hadn't noticed the small piece of tape keeping one of the lockers in the mars hostel closed. You need the tape to cover up the write protect thing on the cassette. And now I'm sad because I've just realised my daughter wouldn't have the foggiest about how to do that as she will probably never come across a cassette tape.

brightnearly · 19/01/2014 18:30

I admire anyone who got through the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy text adventure back in the day.

The game can be played for free and without download here Game

brightnearly · 19/01/2014 18:30

Where's OP? Gaming?

Btw does this count as a nerd thread?

rescoonetwothree · 19/01/2014 18:31

Broken sword!
