Or something equally addictive.

I've just eaten most a bit of tiger french stick. I can't stop. Filled with Asda chicken tikka sandwich filling stop judging

I can't stop. What is it? No other bread leaves me this way.

ElizabethBathory - mine makes delicious light loaves, pizza bases, pitta bread etc. I have a Panasonic and it is the best kitchen gadget I have ever bought. Homemade pitta bread is one of the greatest things in life!

About a week ago, i was thinking similar things and found a tiger bread recipe in one if my books. It turns out that Tiger bread is a paste you spread on top of regular bread before baking so you can make your own.

1tbsp plain flour, 1/4 cup rice flour, 1/4tsp salt, 2 tsp caster sugar, 2tsp veg oil, 1/4cup plus 1tbsp water.

Mix all to paste. Spread on dough before baking.

Interestingly the recipe I have (Beechworth Bakery) says, and I quote "when it bakes off its got a leopard spotted pattern, that's why we call it Tiger Bread'!!!

Wtf. why not call it leopard bread then!!!!

So long as it comes from Asda or Morrisons I'm in.

Bread from Sainsbury is horrid, and stale as a dead giraffe that's been dead for a week some miles from a waterhole.

hugoagogo · 07/01/2014 21:18

'tis true, I love sainsburys with a passion, but when it comes to fresh bread it's asda every time. Hmm

Screw the tiger bread-it's the asda brioche that calls to me.

IneedAsockamnesty · 07/01/2014 21:22

Have you tried the salt & pepper bread from Tescos? Similar to Tiger bread, but with a subtle peppery kick, or a hint of salt in every bite

I like the lick it as soon as I get through the checkout

trashcansinatra · 07/01/2014 21:27

mrsjay · 08/01/2014 08:54

DO IT you know you want too,

MadeOfStarDust · 08/01/2014 08:59

mrsjay · 08/01/2014 09:00

MadeOfStarDust · 08/01/2014 11:32

cantcookshouldntcook · 08/01/2014 11:32

Really want tiger bread now feeling green Envy

CalamitouslyWrong · 08/01/2014 11:39

I don't actually like tiger bread. It's very doughy. The crust is fine but the inside is not great.

I think Asda bakery bread is pretty dire generally. I live very close to an Asda so we often end up with it and it's never good.

ddubsgirl · 08/01/2014 11:42

must be your store then ours is lovely :)

MiniJellyBeans · 08/01/2014 11:44

MTB, I expect you'll be single-handedly responsible for a 500% increase in sales of sundried tomato and parmesan bread mix - just had some delivered with my Tesco order having read your post yesterday and can't wait to try it! Have a whole packet of proper salted butter to go with it too.

MadeOfStarDust · 08/01/2014 11:57

our Asda bakery is great too!! And I love the way they only got planning permission if they agreed to set up apprenticeships for bakery and butchery at ours -

and you can see the teens who got accepted doing all the jobs with a "proud" butcher/baker looking on...

ddubsgirl · 08/01/2014 12:02

we keep asking to have butchers back at ours but then wont :( shame cos we get asked all the time if we have butchers section

ddubsgirl · 08/01/2014 12:03

counters has lost so much last few years cheese went curry pot went last year :( only have rotist & pizza left

CalamitouslyWrong · 08/01/2014 12:04

No. It's all Asda bakeries. You can have doughy but crusty tiger or hedgehog bread or a range of stuff with horrible soft crusts in every Asda I've been in. Or you can have baguettes that are all crust with a miserly yet incredibly doughy centre.

MadeOfStarDust · 08/01/2014 12:17

ermmm Confused - no, it is not all ASDA bakeries... I can assure you I do not eat doughy bread...

GwendolineMaryLacey · 08/01/2014 12:19

Not ours either, otherwise I wouldn't trek out of my way to Asda for it when there's a Sainsburys down the road, a Waitrose in town and a Tesco near my mum.

Wevet · 08/01/2014 12:21

I've never eaten any, to my knowledge, but isn't it just a white bloomer with some extra things done to the crust? Does it really taste so different?
