What has happened to Body Shop?

Yes I know it was sold off a long time ago but it's unrecognisable in terms of products and prices. Half of the stuff I used to buy years ago like their body butter and perfume oil have really gone up in price. The perfume oil must have changed ingredients as the smell is so weak compared to a few years ago. Their makeup is Mac prices.

The sale stuff are rubbish and still expensive.

Does anyone here still shop there?

Oh and. Dd2 got a set of the animal soaps for Xmas from a friend! I think they were brought back as a special.

katese11 · 05/01/2014 18:03

What redtoothbrush said! Haven't shopped there since it got taken over by Nestlé

Scarletohello · 05/01/2014 18:17

Well since I've gone sulphate and silicone free, I've been buying their Rainforest shampoo and conditioner. Has worked wonders for my frizzy hair!

Headlikeafuckingorange · 05/01/2014 18:35

That blog about Lush is rather damning!

McFox · 05/01/2014 18:35

The shampoo and conditioner is really good, and I like the coconut hair shine too, much easier to carry in my bag than actual coconut oil. I slather the vitamin e cream on my décolletage too, it's so cheap! The deals can be great too, you just have to be clever about it.

Head It is! I found it now when I googled body shop and lush stuff out of nostalgia and boredom. I'm not surprised by the content though, I've heard many negative things about them before.

The only thing I would miss would be the Camomile Eye Make up remover - only one that doesn't mess up my eyes.

Although I do have 3 in the cupboard as they keep sending me 70% off deals!

I complained to the recently as the manageress was really rude when I wanted to use a code I was emailed. It has put me off quite a bit.

ReluctantBeing · 05/01/2014 18:43

To the Body Shop, I mean.

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 05/01/2014 18:46

I'm completely pissed off with them for discontinuing their self tanning moisturiser/body cream.

Bastards

ReluctantBeing · 05/01/2014 18:46

I do love Lush, but the staff really piss me off. At least in the body shop they do back off and let you look. In Lush they follow you around talking crap at you.

thisismyYuleTimenickname · 05/01/2014 18:50

Last time I visited Lush they practically jammed random soaps up my nose without warning and were offended when I didn't like the smell.

AuntieMaggie · 05/01/2014 18:54

I remember refilling my bottles at the body shop... agree its not what it was....

IneedAsockamnesty · 05/01/2014 18:55

The soapy cauldron pissed me right off just before Christmas.

Whacked up the prices on the Christmas market stall just because it was Christmas. No special packaging or anything

southeastastra · 05/01/2014 18:55

you can still get the raspberry ripple shower gel i have some upstairs! it usually appears amongst the sale stuff.

ReluctantBeing · 05/01/2014 18:59

I just had a look at the soapy cauldron website, but the bloody box about cookies wouldn't go away.

MoominMammasHandbag · 05/01/2014 19:00

Can you remember when you could bring back empty bottles and have them refilled? And you could mix your perfume oils and make your own creation.
I spent the eighties smelling of cocoanut hair gel and coloured my hair with their extremely red henna.
They used to do some nice ginger and lime shower gels a few years ago that DH really liked, and the make up was always good.
Gosh, haven't been in there for years.

MoominMammasHandbag · 05/01/2014 19:03

Hmmm with all the Mumsnet traffic the Soapy Cauldron must be getting right now, they must be regretting cheap skating their website.

ddubsgirl · 05/01/2014 19:04

was that someone selling direct or someone selling the stock at thier own prices??? im friends with lady that owns the hove store never seen prices go up, love the paradise body scrub and if you take back the jar empty you get discound on the refill Smile love the 50 shades (I see stars) range even use the shower mousse to wash my hair with

ChazzerChaser · 05/01/2014 19:06

I was told by someone in lush that the mark guy who set them up departed body shop after he developed the bath bomb but body shop didn't want to run with it. Hence why that was big with cosmetics to go, then lush. He was behind the innovative stuff at body shop hence why it went shit and the innovative stuff appears at lush instead. (aside from body shop being shit for selling out)
