What has happened to Body Shop?

Yes I know it was sold off a long time ago but it's unrecognisable in terms of products and prices. Half of the stuff I used to buy years ago like their body butter and perfume oil have really gone up in price. The perfume oil must have changed ingredients as the smell is so weak compared to a few years ago. Their makeup is Mac prices.

The sale stuff are rubbish and still expensive.

Does anyone here still shop there?

I joined as a member; never buy anything full price, always with a discount code; love the vitamin c face primer!!!

When I was living overseas and had no money/job, I would go round the three stores in Vancouver and get samples of what I was low on......Smile

Hi ladies. Just noticed your post. I am a body shop at home consultant and I can offer some fantastic deals .............. blah blah blah

Hi, I've completely misread the situation and opened up a zombie thread despite warnings not to.
I'm not going to bother reading that you now all think that Body Shop stuff is shite and I'm going to try and flog my own shit without any real idea about how it might work.
Added to that I've now reanimated a zombie thread. Lets see how many posters post before they realise this.

Sunshine38 · 16/08/2016 06:33

Haven't bought anything from it since it was taken over by L'oreal.....I just don't agree with animal testing....

The best Christmas present I ever had was when I was twelve. My older sister bought me a massive basket filled with little bottles of Body Shop stuff.

I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. I still remember the smell of strawberry shampoo, banana conditioner (just like mashed bananas), peppermint foot lotion, mandarin shower gel...and a little booklet of papier-poudre shine removers.

I loved the Body Shop. We didn't have one so it was the highlight of any trip to find one and spend my pocket money. I still miss the Japanese washing grains.

Damn Blush

Too early. The zombie crept up on me

I actually really like the olive shower gel and some of the drops of youth or oils of life face stuff.

And the camomile cleansing butter is lovely.

There are 30% off offers often enough that you never need to pay full price.

Not impressed with the "consultant" posting above - maybe she is new to the internet.

Ah, BodyShop nostalgia, who cares that it's is a zombie thread.

I first read about The Bodyshop in Cosmo, in a flat that we only rented Autumn 1979/Spring 1980. I sent off for lots of samples, they were all lovely. I still have a 'contraband' bottle of Amber perfume, think some if its ingredients are probably now banned. Sigh. I loved the idea of helping communities by paying fair prices for their raw materials. The factory tour was brilliant, too.

As for the sellout to L'Oreal, I'm guessing they were very keen to buy and put together a very clever sales pitch. They could have promised anything, who was going to hold them to those promises?

Just noticed your post. I am a body shop at home consultant

Translation : I am a desperate sucker who got caught up in a pyramid selling multi-level marketing scheme and am so desperate for sales that I am trawling through the advanced search function to try to spam forums.

BORE OFF.

Verbena37 · 16/08/2016 08:46

Omg....Nestle and Loreal bought it?
Never going in there again now I know that then.
The OP is right though......prices have steadily crept up over the years and the products aren't as well known and good as they used to be.

I guess Lush has taken a large proportion of the market (although I have non knowledge of their ethics as I don't shop there).

I did used to love spending hours browsing and buying in the 90's though. White musk, banana conditioner, Brazil nut shampoo, dewberry body spray etc

Lolly86 · 16/08/2016 10:33

Uses to live their animals in danger range..also the flavoured bubble bath and shower gel...ice cream, chocolate, tangerine etc.
Our school smelt of white musk, vanilla and dewberry... late 90s... memories Smile
