Mainly because they don't have loads of big chewy ones and they have the coffee ones back!

M & S chocs are amezzin! Gorgeous coffee, orange and strawb creams, nice toffees and caramels. i ate our box before christmas so had to buy more before DH found out i had been scoffing them on the sly. I had decided against Roses and QS and invested in a nice big christmas tin from LIDL to put 2 boxes of M & S chocs in; best christmas chocs ever!

RoseHoney · 27/12/2013 10:24

Neither. Celebrations are the winner.

GinOnTwoWheels · 27/12/2013 10:32

We got QS as a gift and I think they are crap these days. I don't like cadbury's chocolate so I can't see me liking roses any better. Sadly I still eat them, because they are there and DP opened them, but we have so much chocolate stuff that it will last for months.

I'm a quality not quantity sort of person and I would honestly rather have one or two of the hotel chocolat little trays of six chocs than a big tub of roses/quality street/heros etc

BlingBang · 27/12/2013 10:34

R

BlingBang · 27/12/2013 10:35

Roses always were better.

Lollydaydream · 27/12/2013 10:39

a tin of roses with a box of quality street thrown in has gone down quite well here. Green triangles are an essential part of Christmas !

Lomaamina · 27/12/2013 10:41

I just wish I could buy Quality Street coconut chocolates on their own. I must be the only person who actually prefers these to any other sort (both brands are pretty mediocre in my opinion: too sweet by far).

Trills · 27/12/2013 10:57

Coffee ones is a big draw.

But Roses strawberry/orange creams are brightly coloured and runny, which makes them taste more artificial to me (even if it's not true), whereas Quality Street are white and thick.

Celebrations or Miniature Heroes are of course crap. They are not jewel-coloured and specia.

Snowdown · 27/12/2013 11:06

I am so glad we avoided boxed sweets this year - they both taste pretty grim but I end up eating them anyway.

moominleigh94 · 27/12/2013 11:08

Forget the coffee ones; Roses have truffles . This is a good thing.

If only they could nick the orange crunch from the Quality Streets, Roses would be perfect. I'm not overly fussed on the coffee ones, I'll gladly swap them for orange crunch QS.

Lifeisaboxofchocs · 27/12/2013 11:38

if i am going to have chocolate, it is going to be from hotel chocolat or G&B or similar. Not from a grotty box of roses or quality street, on a 3 for 1 offer. Once you have really luscious chocolate, there is no turning back...

Lifeisaboxofchocs · 27/12/2013 11:39

Treat yourself to galaxy or dairy milk? Hmm

Treat yourself to green and blacks or hotel chocolat more like

Mumzy · 27/12/2013 11:56

All mass chocolate producers: cadburys, nestle, frys make chocolate that have a synthetic nasty taste and an unpleasant waxy mouth feel nowadays due to the addition of soya protein to make the chocolate cheaper to produce. So neither is good imo

Mumzy · 27/12/2013 11:56

Charbonnel and walker is my favourite chocolate maker

BloominNora · 27/12/2013 12:01

YABVU - they're both crap - Hero's are the only tinned chocs to go for or, if you absolutely must, Celebrations.

Roses and QS are just so very..........1980's Xmas Grin

moominleigh94 · 27/12/2013 12:01

I love nestle and frys Grin you can have your 'spensive hotel chocolat, I'm quite happy with my pleb sweets.

Miserere · 27/12/2013 12:02

I like the ones with the purple hazelnut and the green praline triangles. Quality Street I think

But they're both a bit boring otherwise. Sorry

Lomaamina · 27/12/2013 12:02

Oh yes. Green and Black's is the only chocolate for me. Although I'm still missing the gorgeous assortment selection box they used to make: uk-img2.ciao.com/iuk/images/products/normal/573/product-6853573.jpg

nagynolonger · 27/12/2013 12:07

All the plastic 'tins' are rubbish. Either buy proper posh chocs or go to Aldi. Aldi Choceur (especially rich marzipan) and the chocolate covered toffees are lovely even if they are pleb.

BsshBossh · 27/12/2013 12:10

Well I'm a posh chocs girl (especially Paul A. Young) but can also appreciate a good box of Ferrero, After Eights and Roses (Roses all the way here!).

Lifeisaboxofchocs · 27/12/2013 12:18

Oh I will make an exception for ferrero roche.

"you're really spoiling us ambassador'. I loved that advert!

thornrose · 27/12/2013 12:27

I hate both (bah humbug) they always make me feel really sickly afterwards. I love Lindt Lindor dark chocolate truffles.

ChampagneSorbet · 27/12/2013 12:30

Quality Street better than Roses but cannot buy or eat due to boycotting Nestlé. Ferraro Rocher are brilliant.

Theodorous · 27/12/2013 12:36

Was shocked, big tin of quality street £9 in Doha, small box Roses £15. Miss hazelnut whirled and have aching jaw from toffee pennies

winkywinkola · 27/12/2013 12:39

Both Quality Street and Roses are very very poor chocolates IMO.
