Drink driving ( google not helping)

I am wondering how much wine I can have to stay in the safe limit.

Normally if I am driving the next day I don't touch wine at all, but will I be legal if I have 2 small glasses of wine with my dinner tomorrow ( I will not be driving until the morning)

Either way I don't mind.

I don't understand the whole units and driving so I played it safe.

It's not the best of ideas no, I mean two glasses at home could well be half a bottle given how large home measures tend to be. I wouldn't have two large glasses of wine if I was driving in the morning, no.

If it is 2 small glasses in terms of pub measures (125ml) then no problem at all by next morning, assuming typical metabolism.

If home poured, it could easily be far more alcohol. But with overnight clearance, you should be ok as long as 2 means 2 (4 or 5 units). Not 2 plus random top ups until midnight.

Two large glasses of wine would be two thirds of a bottle, not half.

You'd still be under the limit if you started/stopped according to the timings the OP mentioned.

Yes I have and going by 2 large glasses I should be fine.

SPS it depends on the size of the large glasses!

The only safe way would be to have the two glasses, and then just before you drive have a massive spliff stuffed with best quality skunk. That will clear your system of the remaining alcohol.

Some of the responses here are way OTT! Of course you will have metabolised two glasses from Xmas lunch by Boxing Day morning!

I don't think people are reading the OP properly. It is of course possible to be over the limit the next day and we should all be aware of this, but it would require a lot more than two glasses of wine with dinner.

I wouldn't have two large glasses of wine if I was driving in the morning, no. FFS it's well out of your system by then. A bottle would be well out of your system by then. She has about 17 hours. Time for two bottles to metabolise, never mind one. I'm not saying drink two bottles but the hysteria is very strange.

That link tells me that I'm "Not even mellow!" after 13 hours have elapsed since drinking 4 glasses of wine! I feel it's not working properly for me as that can't be right surely??

Obviously yes. Some of you are frankly ridiculous!

I think that many people have heard about being over the limit the morning after and not bothered to listen to the explanations. If you drink heavily late into the night you will indeed be over the limit the next morning. If you drink lightly a while before bed you will not. You do actually metabolise alcohol, you know - it doesn't just accumulate forever!

The warnings about driving the next day are based on an office party/drink yourself stupid/still drinking at 2am and leaving for work at 7am scenario. I'm a real lightweight (have barely touched a drop for the past 3 years thanks to medicines/pregnancy/breastfeeding) and I would be perfectly happy driving the day after having 2 glasses of wine!

sirzy you make a good point, but in fairness, based on the
OPs information, they are taking a responsible attitude in trying to remain in the legal limit. So my point was that even if you do things to the letter of the law, and drive safely, the police could potentially stop and test you it may be marginal. In that scenario, I didnt see it as putting lives at risk.

Drink the bottle OP.

You will be absolutely fine OP. You could have double that, and still be fine by the next morning. Enjoy!

2 small glasses of wine probably wouldn't put you over the limit at the time unless you were very small/ necked in an hour. Not that I personally would drive straight after.

Ridiculous unless we are talking those whole bottle-sized glasses

As someone said the next morning thing is going out getting completely pissed until 1am then going to work for 9.
