I am in London. Lying in bed and it really feels like the house is going to get blown away. It seems to be getting worse.

YANBU! it's terrifying!

woozlebear · 24/12/2013 00:04

We had garden re-fenced this summer. If anything falls down I'll cry!

Freddiefrog · 24/12/2013 00:04

I can't sleep either. My front door is rattling and it's bloody annoying.

It sounds really bad, but according to the local weather site the wind isn't anywhere near as bad as it was when we had those gales last month so hopefully it's all noise and we'll be fine.

Mintyy · 24/12/2013 00:05

Yanbu! I started a similar thread!

Runwayqueen · 24/12/2013 00:06

South Devon here and it really seems to have calmed thank goodness. Finally can now try to sleep.

Stay safe everyone

elastamum · 24/12/2013 00:08

South Derbyshire and it is absolutley howling here. Am waiting to see if some of our trees are going to come down in the night Shock

Notcontent · 24/12/2013 00:08

Take care everyone and hopefully we will all be ok.

Wow it's scary! I'm waiting for my sister to come home.....we live in the depths of the countryside down a narrow road through woods....two of our large (15-20m tall estimate) fir trees are down across the road Blush
Don't know what the rest of the roads like!

BMW6 · 24/12/2013 00:15

Am in Southampton, DH is out delivering milk - half of which are in glass bottles....has just rung to say how totally awful it is out there.

And we are in the middle of having building work done to the conservatory...
the roof was half off before the storm started......

DinkyFrinkbuster · 24/12/2013 00:16

Hampshire here - leaks through ceilings in two rooms. Why must these things always happen at Christmas!

busylizzie76 · 24/12/2013 00:25

Phew sister is back - I can try and sleep now Smile

I've been giving the huge Christmas tree outside local Budgens a very wide berth as it looks really iffy. Last year we had half a roof (& it leaked in Christmas Day) & no heat

Spermysextowel · 24/12/2013 00:38

ing so this year is better but now worried the new roof will get ripped off.

trufflesnuffler · 24/12/2013 00:44

NW london here...I can hear wrought iron garden furniture and wheelie bins dancing outside but l like hell I'm going out. Too warm in my bed Grin

SaltySeaBird · 24/12/2013 00:57

On South Coast (Sussex) and lying in bed feeling scared. We have two large trees very close to the house - one outside our room and one outside DD's room. It sounds awful out there, the whole house seems to be creaking and groaning.

I'm tempted to wake DD and bring her into bed with us, but she probably won't go back to sleep (15mo) and DH will be pretty annoyed!

I am scared though. DH and DD are both fast asleep, I've got no chance.

StickyProblem · 24/12/2013 01:09

We are south east coast too...our bedroom window blew in at 9pm. DP secured it with boards and nails. Really not liking it at all, want it to stop!

Worst should be over by 3am ish. Maybe a bit later for you east coasters. It is a bit scary.

ThatIsIt · 24/12/2013 01:13

It has to be bad, sky has stopped working at times Shock due to the wind. I can hear the wind trying to get through the windows.

WhereIsMyHat · 24/12/2013 01:14

West London here, mid terrace yet it's still wild. The house is making noises I never knew it could make!

TheGreatHunt · 24/12/2013 01:17

YANBU. SE London and cannot sleep.

It's insane! Very intense gusts.

mervynmouse · 24/12/2013 01:21

South London here, perched on the side of a hill. Also feeling less loving towards my fireplaces! Wind is howling down them and the house is shuddering. Having flashbacks to the storm of 87, it's horrible out there. Hope everyone stays safe. Don't think I'll be sleeping til it calms down, I am on high alert Shock

CitrusSun · 24/12/2013 01:45

Wide awake in Surrey, having work done in bedroom so having to sleep downstairs and wind howling all round house and coming through letter box, so loud out there, impossible to sleep and like someone else said I too have to be up 7, but if it calms down around 3 at least that's 4 hours kip
