Someone stole my Christmas wreath from my front door. I'm quite annoyed and disappointed it was heart shaped and lovely and I can't find another one like it. Xmas Sad

That's awful.
How mean

ChippingInLovesChristmasLights · 16/12/2013 11:59

Bastards Xmas Sad

I have one I put on every year, it has a little wee Red Robin on it and I'd be gutted if it was stolen. I nearly didn't put it on the door the first year - just in case Xmas Grin I can't use it this year, I just have a 'fresh wreath' - it's not the same Xmas Sad

Mrswellyboot · 16/12/2013 12:03

That is so mean. I also have a heart one. I got it years ago in tesco :(
Someone stole my window boxes last year but they were put in a window a few doors down. Students were living beside me and were up to a few tricks like that. Few neighbours complained but they were harmless enough.

Some one nicked my hanging basket one year, I was gutted, had done it all myself, couldn't work out what was wrong with the front of the house for a few minutes before the penny dropped.
Miserable, lazy, thieving sods. Angry

enormouse · 16/12/2013 12:08

I'd be gutted.

Did your neighbours see anything suspicious?

QueNoelle · 16/12/2013 12:13

Are you certain it didn't blow away? It was very windy last night. Our fence blew down.

Either way though, it is a shame to have lost it.

magicberry · 16/12/2013 12:16

That sucks. Every year I am paranoid that will happen to me. Commiserations :(

Quoteunquote · 16/12/2013 12:16

The trick is to add lots of blackthorn, when making it, and lots of holly and other prickles, and then wire it onto a loop screwed in. If they can't touch it they can't steal it.

I make a few for friends who have front doors on to the high street, they are always there for the whole season.

limitedperiodonly · 16/12/2013 12:19

Mean bastards. It sounds really nice, too.

Someone tried to do that to me and I'd wired it to the door knocker - I don't mean I'd connected it to the mains.

I happened to be passing the front door when they did it and it sounded like a loud knock so I opened it immediately and actually pulled them inside with their thieving mitts on my wreath Grin

alemci · 16/12/2013 12:19

that's so horrible. What is wrong with people. I remember years ago my lovely hanging basket was taken.

I don't have a wreath on my door. I would worry someone may take it.

uggmum · 16/12/2013 12:22

People are so mean. Someone stole one of my Halloween decorations and stole all the plants from my Mum's hanging baskets.

It is annoying. Hope you manage to replace it. Ive put out a large illuminated tree and attached it to the house with a bike chain. It's going to take bolt cutters to steal it.

craftynclothy · 16/12/2013 12:25

Yanbu. I made our wreath and hang it on the living room door as I'd be worried about it being stolen.

You have reminded me that I haven't got it out yet Shock

BlackeyedShepherdswatchsheep · 16/12/2013 12:29

i think mine is pretty safe.

it is cheap. the neighbours ones arre so much nicer. we live in a flat with security door which reduces opportunity.

thought about getting my mum one this year as she now has a porch to protect it.

Mums beautiful colourful hanging basket was stolen a day after she bought it. We had to laugh though as the thieves left a completely dead, brown one it its place....did they think we wouldn't notice?

Buzzardisnotina4birdroast · 16/12/2013 13:28

It will appear at the next car boot. Thieving gits :(

Anything like this?

I'm glad nobody thinks i'm being unreasonable. I got it from M&S last year - really loved it. It was this one: reviews.marksandspencer.com/1199-en_gb/B001H0PHN2/reviews.htm?sort=rating

Perhaps I should take it as a compliment that all my neighbour still have theirs? The reason I think it was stolen was that one of my neighbours had a log raindeer stolen too. Never had this happen before lived here for 5 years!

Next time I might being it at night time.

You are NBU, they are poopy shitbags. You could wire a new one up and hang a bunch of tin cans and loud cat collar bells from the end of it if you run the wire under the door.

There are a bunch of similar ones on ebay:

www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=gisela+heart+wreath&LH_PrefLoc=1&_sop=12

Very nice. If you like, you could spray paint a bit of extra white/glitter on it.

I also vote for extra thorns. You could hide them behind some poinsettia.

Actually, bells are pretty Christmassy anyway. You could get a bunch and wire them directly onto the wreath.

And don't forget to put a curse on it!

tattyteddy · 16/12/2013 15:48

Thanks lookatmybutt, the ones on ebay are really nice - I think I may just bite the bullet and get another one. Obviously I will guard the next one with my life!

That happened to me, and when I put the next one up, I used one of those attack alarms that make a lot of noise when the connection is broken.
So the next time they dropped it and scarpered.
I have a lovely wreath hanging on the back door with little bells on.

SilverApples · 16/12/2013 15:52

I like Quoteunquote's approach too. Xmas Smile

tattyteddy · 16/12/2013 15:53

Oh the attack alarm sounds like a good idea too! I live in quite a niace street!
