To think psychics are all fakes?

I don't like that they take peoples money when they are in a vulnerable place, lost loved ones etc. It's immoral. Just my opinion.

Thoughts? Opinions?

I suppose being a psychic is what you go for if you are not confident that you can do a Joseph Smith, L. Ron Hubbard or Jesus. Retail instead of wholesale.

HettiePetal · 11/12/2013 18:49

There has been total dismissing of others points of view on this thread and the dismissal has been absolute

You have not understood a single thing that anyone has said, have you?

If you think, "it's not beyond the realms of possibility" is a valid point, then I despair.

ItsOkayItsJustMyBreath · 11/12/2013 18:50

Baldrick you will not accept others' reasons that you may not be right. You are sticking your head in the sand and not prepared to listen. Your point has been discredited again and again and yet you cannot accept this. You do not have anything else to say because you have reached the end of your argument and do not know where to turn next. I recommend you read A C Grayling, The God Argument. It describes far more intelligibly the type of thinking I am alluding to.

SamU2, what you have described are coincidences. I had a dream that my friend was about to become an uncle, I called him and told him, he called me a witch. His brother's gf was 2 months pg and they hadn't told anyone except close family. However, they had been together for quite some time, were engaged and were at an age where having DCs wasn't shocking.

HettiePetal · 11/12/2013 18:52

It honestly pains me how stupid people can be.

It's not "beyond the realms of possibility" that drinking bleach instead of coffee for breakfast won't kill you.

Only idiots are stupid enough to try it though.

spanky2 · 11/12/2013 18:55

I went to see Colin Fry. It could have been a set up but when he came in there was a strange energy in the room . None of this is proovable . I am also sure I saw the ghost of my grandma so I am not the most skeptical person .

BakeOLiteGirl · 11/12/2013 18:59

I saw psychic Sally at one of the large venues on her tour recently- only because I worked there. I walked out of the auditorium in disgust because she was full of horse shit and there were all these vulnerable people taking in everything she said.

paxtecum · 11/12/2013 19:01

Hettie: You are entitled to your views and believe what you wish, as indeed we all are.

You seem to be quite annoyed that others don't agree with you.

The dreams could be coincidences for sure. But how did the medium know the date and time of death of a loved one without ever meeting me before?

The death wasn't in the news or anything. She couldn't have googled me or anything to find it out.

I am not religious and I tend to believe that when you die you die, but I have always wanted an explanation for it.

I am now losing a loved one, three of my children are losing their father, right now I would love to believe that he will be there looking down on us. That is not logical so I can't believe it but I would like to.

ItsOkayItsJustMyBreath · 11/12/2013 19:15

SamU2 There are possible explanations for what you have experienced but bollox to that at this time. I am so sorry to hear about your partner and wish you all the strength in the world.

HettiePetal · 11/12/2013 19:16

As best as you can recollect, SamU, how did the conversation actually go?

Did she say, "Your Aunt Dolly died 7th November at 3.34 in the afternoon last year?"

Or was there a working up to it?

YouAreMyFavouriteWasteOfTime · 11/12/2013 19:17

But how did the medium know the date and time of death of a loved one without ever meeting me before?

I don't know - but I know there is no mystery or magic to it. Advertising and sales people convince people they need to buy something they never thought they need or wanted. there is not mystery or magic in that.

sales people and advertisers just have a set of skills an use them to influence people. or is that magic as well?

HettiePetal · 11/12/2013 19:18

Sorry - ignore my last post. I was replying to your first line.

I am so sorry for what you're going through. Truly.

Thank you so much :) He is my ex husband but we are very close and of course my children are devastated and I would love to believe that when he is gone he won't actually be gone gone.

Hettie. We were at the spiritualist church and she said she had a family member here to talk to us. Gave details on her height and size and then said the day she passed away and time. It was a long time ago so I may not be remembering it exactly how it was but there was no big lead up, I had been to enough not to feed them answers.

I wonder if that is a lot of it? maybe if I had a tape recording I would notice something was off and perhaps wanting believe it at the time plays tricks on how I and others remember it?

I am just thinking out loud really. I was once a spiritualist but then when I tried to think logically it stopped making sense Grin

Nope and you won't find me ever claiming psychics are real. I question my experiences but as I said, there is no logic and I can't bring myself to believe in it for certain but I have had some experiences that have made me wonder for a bit, if there is anything.

BaldricksTurnip · 11/12/2013 19:28

If anyone should leave this thread it should be you. You need to go and have a think about the way you conduct yourself. Your attitude, language and behaviour on this thread has been absolutely shocking.

HettiePetal · 11/12/2013 19:31

SamU

The answer probably is that she was picking up clues from your responses.

And yes, we all mis-remember things all the time. It's especially common with "group remembrances" -there's a phenomenon. although I can't remember what it's called.

BackOnlyBriefly · 11/12/2013 19:31

Give it a rest baldrick. So people disagree with you. It must have happened before.

YouAreMyFavouriteWasteOfTime · 11/12/2013 19:33

this thread needs more less psychics and more physics Grin.

a short lesson of gravity en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravitation

BaldricksTurnip · 11/12/2013 19:34

Back- yes obviously but there is no need for nastiness and name calling is there? I love a debate, but do not appreciate somebody being viscous and bullying when people do not agree with them. Everybody has the right to express their opinion.

I have in front of me a pack of tarot cards that was given to me years ago by an ex. I cannot read them and do not believe in them.

I will give a 'reading' to the first person who wants one. It will consist of three lines.
