AIBU?

AIBU to have a poo in the evening?

Loftyjen · 08/12/2013 23:47

DH claims poo'ing in the evening (after 10pm) is abnormal & that it is weird and IBU to do it.
tbh, I poo when I have time/am able to & with a 3 yo & 3 wo this is most often when he's around, but I don't deliberately hang on until the evening.

He claims that most people are like him & will hold into it rather than poo in the evening - according to him, all poo'ing should be done in the morning (ideally mid-morning going by his w/e habits) & that variation in the time of day that I go is weird & I should just hold on & go in the morning (like him).

Please reassure me that he's the weird one who's BU Wink

We came up with a theory the other day. Girls sit down when they go to the toilet, every time, so it matters less whether it's going to be a wee or a poo. Boys, on the other hand, only sit down to do a poo, so they need to be more sure! They are therefore more aware of their bowel movements whereas girls are more likely to just sit down and see what comes out.

Not that that is actually relevant. Poo when you like, I say. I have been known to get up in the middle of the night to go. If you've got to go, you've got to go!

I think that such a late poo is odd, but I'd never hold it until the next day.

How is that even possible??

Surely it depends on when you eat, though?

I tend to go morning & afternoon.

Have my main meal at lunch & evening meal is more of a snack.

I always have one mid morning and sometimes one before bed at about 10 pm if I get the urge. This is great for me, a life long constipation sufferer. I've been three weeks without one before and when it eventually came out I tore, bled and cried for an hour in agony. Kind of my own fault, I've never been able to go outside of my own house so if i stayed at someone elses house I'd hold it in for days until I got home.

I don't know how this turned into a poo rant but there you go. You go when you need to go, there's nothing wrong with that.

Love the though of just sitting down and seeing what comes out!Grin

I do tend to poo at around the same time of day - mid morning when at home, evenings when at work. Not sure why there is a difference, but perhaps it's because I am moving around lots at work whereas I just tend to sit and MN at home!Grin

I did once wake up at 3am for a poo though, I thought that was a bit unusual.

DH poos 10 mins after breakfast, whenever that is in the day. You could set your watch by it.

I am astounded that anyone could actually have a routine for pooing!

Maybe Sheldon Cooper isn't that unusual after all!

Go when you need to!

I wish my body wasn't favouring 4am when I wake for a night feed though. I either have to sit on it uncomfortably, or go before the feed as DS gets louder and louder... (favoured option)

Xmas

and it's not pooing.
it's "evacuating your bowels" Grin

he should know - Shelly Cooper is a smelly pooper!Wink

I quite often have a poo in the evenings.

Really contraryish? Don't you think women can feel when they need to poo? I can. It's a very different feeling from needing a wee!

This is an eye opener. I always thought people pooled when they needed to,not clench until poo time.

Does it not be prairie dogging?

Pooed,not pooled.

Holding poo is really bad for you. It distended the gut and makes it easier for there to be weak atonal areas later on.
I think I read somewhere that it can lead to bowel cancer.

Of I think your DH is wrong to hold his poo, and he's endangering his health by doing so. He's also being very odd to have an opinion on the "correct" time for your bowel movements - and a bit controlling if you ask me.

Does he like the feeling of doing a poo? Is he embarrassed at how pleasurable it can be to do a poo? Does he have repressed gay anal fantasies?
Did he hold onto it when he was toilet trained as a battle of wills against his mum or against his own body? Is he afraid of dying? Falling asleep? Orgasm? Letting go? Does he belly laugh out loud? Sneeze noisily?

I'm asking because in Buddhism the act of going for a poo is listed as being as blissful / an altered state called bardo: like the moment of falling asleep, orgasm, birth, particular meditation, sneezing and dying.

I think there's more to your DH's strict bowel habit than meet the eye, so to speak!

Good grief!

Poo whenever you bloody well like.

I must admit I try to encourage dp to poo downstairs if he goes at bedtime instead of in the ensuite but he poos where he wants to which I guess is his prerogative..... Luckily he opens windows and shuts doors!

I find it strange that people have set times to poo! It is really bad for you to hold it in. Also I couldn't physically do that a lot of the time as my poos are very soft- as they should be.

How can there be a choice? Confused When you need to poo, surely it's coming whether you like it or not?

When I need a poo, it's not a choice...the poo needs out! I HAVE to go instantly...I get about ten minutes to find a toilet. I poo every morning like clockwork.

My DH also thinks everyone should poo in the mornings. He was, according To MIL, was clean and dry by 12 months in terms of potty training. No issues there then, oh no.

I was once examined for hemaroids (SP?) and the Dr. Was a bit Hmm that I hadn't managed To empty my bowels that morning and said something along the línes of

"oh but you should Go every morning" - I told him I'd tried and Nothing happenned, it comes out when it's ready.

I don't like the idea of there being poo police!

Maybe this (most basic ) right should be enshrined in the European Convention on Human Rights?

My husband always insists every poo habit he has is the norm and the fact no one else does them means they're weird.

I don't even know why it comes up, I do not talk about such things with him. He just... like to talk about poo I guess.

Bloody hell I wish I was regular enough to care. It only happens for me every two weeks so when it happens I'm not holding it in!

DP meanwhile reserves his for when we go out. He can only do it when I am suited and booted and ready to go, it's not even as if I can sit on the sofa until he's ready. Now that's annoying! Angry

I cant remember if it was here or another board I used to use, but I remember someone posting that after years of being together, marriage, babies etc she found out that her husband got totally naked when having a "bit of a think".

It turns out he was brought up to do that by his mother, for reasons best known to herself, and thought everyone did that! She posted just to check that she wasnt the weird one by remaining clothed, as he insisted she was and unhygenic to boot! He might have had a point about hygiene, we all know about poo particles, but he kept the clothes in the bathroom with him and got dressed in them again afterwards!

As they say.....There's nowt as queer as folk!

I am trying to find the OP on it but I think it was actually on the old site which closed down about 3 years ago. Members can access archives up to a point but I still cant find it!

It was hilarious with lots of "this is a joke right?!" and it would have probably been pulled as suspicious on here :o
