Are you Italian?

KrabbyPatty · 06/12/2013 19:25

Versace?!

I am sorry, but you're going to get a bit of snurking from people on that one.

SirChenjin · 06/12/2013 19:25

Versace?? Really?

FunnyFestiveTableRunner · 06/12/2013 19:26

Really? Like really Versace?

Writerwannabe83 · 06/12/2013 19:26

Santa shouldn't have laughed because that is rude - but if it was me, like Santa, I probably would have said, "Really???!"

Just being honest!

NeedlesCuties · 06/12/2013 19:27

Did you have a look on MN Baby Names board before picking that name, OP?

SirChenjin · 06/12/2013 19:27
CoffeeTea103 · 06/12/2013 19:28

Sorry op but if it is Versace then Santa is the tip of the iceberg.

HECTheHeraldAngelsSing · 06/12/2013 19:28

As in the brand?
ok.
well, it's still rude for someone to sneer at it. Particularly in front of the child. He didnt pick it but he has to wear it and laughing might upset him.

Feminine · 06/12/2013 19:28

Versace? no...

here

It is unusual.

I'm sorry but Santa probably thought you were teasing.

I like it as a name but I imagine folk will just keep seeing a pair of jeans though!

Bearbehind · 06/12/2013 19:28

If his name is really Versace, there's going to be more sniggers than just Santa!

Writerwannabe83 · 06/12/2013 19:29

Lol @ coffeeTea Grin

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 06/12/2013 19:29

Its not versace is it? Shock

3FrenchHenD19s · 06/12/2013 19:30

Ok it's Mario and no we're not Italian but there is a story behind the name.

I did offer it up to Mumsnet when I was pregnant who warned against but I was adamant I was having a girl do didn't worry about the boys name my DH had chosen.

do people really call their children Versace?

OP posts:
Writerwannabe83 · 06/12/2013 19:32

Phew - Mario isn't quite as shocking Grin

What's the story behind his name??

HopAndSkipAlong · 06/12/2013 19:33

I don't think theres anything wrong with Mario. It's a bit unusual here and reminds me of "mario carts", but it is clearly a name.
Out of curiosity does he look at all italian?

AryaofhouseSnark · 06/12/2013 19:34

I like Mario, it's a lot better than Versace.
He was being rude either way.

SirChenjin · 06/12/2013 19:34

Phew! Grin

Mario is not really that out there, is it? Personally not sure about using furrin' names unless you are from that country but each to their own etc Smile

nonmifairidere · 06/12/2013 19:34

Like my nn says' Non mi fai ridere'.Xmas Smile

Annunziata · 06/12/2013 19:35

I think it's a beautiful name, but with Mario & Luigi and him from Essex, people will look at you funny, especially if you aren't Italian.

3FrenchHenD19s · 06/12/2013 19:35

Our Mario is blonde with a pale complexion. wonder if Italians say 'our Mario'?!

OP posts:
YoureBeingASillyBilly · 06/12/2013 19:36

Oh mario is lovely. Nothing odd about that! Santa mustnt have a very diverse good/naughty list! Grin

If other people don't say what Santa said to your face, rest assured, they're certainly thinking it.
