A vest (or singlet) is THIS

If it has SLEEVES it's a T-shirt

If it has POPPERS at the crotch it's a fucking babygro. Or a onesie, if you must. NOT a fucking VEST.

I am so pissed off that the penny has only just dropped now. You've been confusing me for years on this. Particularly as adults wear vests and in that context it doesn't have bloody poppers at the crotch now, does it!?

YABVU.

A babygro has long sleeves and legs.

SaltyGoodness · 04/12/2013 18:10

NO IT DOESN'T.

Babygros have short or long sleeves.

A vest has NO sleeves. Thats what makes it a fucking VEST.

OP posts:
Shente · 04/12/2013 18:10

No you are wrong, babygros have arm and legs with the feet covered. Vests are leg free - the poppers sto it riding up when dc rolls about

ilovesmurfs · 04/12/2013 18:10

Baby vests can have short PR long sleeves and have poppers, once they reach age two/threr/are potty trained you get vests with no poppers.

A babygrow has sleeves and legs and is an all in ie suit.

NickNacks · 04/12/2013 18:10

No it's a vest not a babygro!

Oodmaiden · 04/12/2013 18:11

Some vests have sleeves...

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 04/12/2013 18:12

Babygros have long legs and sleeves. Vests don't, and just have three poppers underneath.

So um...you're wrong!

SaltyGoodness · 04/12/2013 18:13

No bloody way, I am NOT buying this. A vest has no sleeves, that's the POINT. Look at adult vests - both the undershirt kind and the 3 piece suit kind.

Fuck off with your SLEEVES.

I am so so cross about this. YEARS of confusion you've caused me.

Sometimes they can be called a bodysuit...having googled but vests can have long or short sleeves. Like long johns etc.

SaltyGoodness · 04/12/2013 18:13

Am Australian. This would all have been easier if you called them singlets like civilised people.

Grrrr.

Yabvu

A babygro, onsie, sleepsuit has long sleeves and feet.

A vest is worn under things, can have no, short or long sleeves.

ThurlHoHoHow · 04/12/2013 18:14

It's a vest! Babygrows have some form of sleeves and legs. Vests don't have any legs!

ShoeJunkie · 04/12/2013 18:14

Babygro = long sleeves and legs.
Baby vest = no/short/long sleeves and poppers underneath.

steff13 · 04/12/2013 18:15

What is a popper?

ilovesmurfs · 04/12/2013 18:15

www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-long-sleeve-thermal-vest/p189321

Lomgmsleeved vest for adults, you can get long sleeved vests for kids as well. For babies they still have poppers between the crotch to hold nappy in place etc but they are still vests.

SaltyGoodness · 04/12/2013 18:16

Bollocks!!! Look on any website, babygros will have short OR long sleeves. Feet OR no feet. Scratch mittens OR no mittens. It's the poppers at the crotch that make them a babygro.

OP posts:
ilovesmurfs · 04/12/2013 18:16

Poppers are press studs.

bababababoom · 04/12/2013 18:16

Nope, sorry. Vests have short sleeves and go under a babygro, which has long sleeves and legs, usually little feet too. Babies' vests have poppers under the crotch, babygros have poppers all the way down the legs.

YABU

SaltyGoodness · 04/12/2013 18:18

You can't call something that does up at the crotch a vest any more than you can call a t-shirt with poppers at the crotch a t-shirt.

Go on, google fucking vests on M&S.

YOU WILL SEE I AM RIGHT!!!

ILetHimKeep20Quid · 04/12/2013 18:19

And deep breaths...

SPsWantsCliffInHerStocking · 04/12/2013 18:19

vests

babygros

This is what google says and no one fucka with google. The vest goes under the babygro. Its fucking vest man.

SaltyGoodness · 04/12/2013 18:19

Babies wear babygros (or onesies).

If it's hot they'll have short sleeves, or even no sleeves.

If it's cold they'll have long sleeves and long legs, maybe even feet attached.

They're all babygros!!!

OP posts:
MrsHowardRoark · 04/12/2013 18:19

My thermal vests have sleeves, so do DP's and DD's.

The baby's vests have sleeves and poppers Shock

You are being unreasonable.

SecretSantaFix · 04/12/2013 18:20

A baby grow has feet and arms and can be also called a sleepsuit.
A vest can also be called a bodysuit.

SaltyGoodness · 04/12/2013 18:21

Rubbish SP, those are short-sleeved onesies (or babygros)

The long sleeved ones don't even have poppers to do up/undo so what kind of amateur hour scam are you trying to pull?

So cross about this still.
