I love all my German shepherds, they are cuddly, soppy and big enough for DD to pretend she is riding a horseGrin.

Pickle looks lovely too.

FlashDrive · 24/11/2013 01:59

I have a Blenheim who is a bit older who doesnt seem to need a groomer but my ruby girl can tend to look unkept, I have being attempting it myself but may book her in - she is very nervous though

Ah, I took Pickle to the groomer from puppyhood, and she loved being made a fuss of.

Even now, there's a guy who loves her in the park, who does the woodcarving. He was away for three months, but she kept looking for him. He came back this week and she was in bliss Grin. She checked for him every day.

I had a gorgeous blenheim growing up. Fantastic dog.

ShadowsCollideWithPeople · 24/11/2013 02:14

Oh, YANBU. I don't actually have a dig, but my parents do, and I pop around every day while they are at work to feed him, play with him, and snuggle with him. I walk him and look after him loads so he's kind of almost mine Grin. He is a Weimaraner, and I love him. He is so gorgeous and cuddly and sweet, and he smells like chocolate cake. And recently when I was having a good old cry, he hopped up on the couch, snuggled up with me, and licked the tears off my face. He's wonderful. I have pictures of him on my profile. DP and I are babysitting him tomorrow night and I can't wait.

BOF, Pickle is just adorable.

This is a lovely thread, Flash. I love a good doggie appreciation thread.

ShadowsCollideWithPeople · 24/11/2013 02:18

Er. That should have been I dont actually have a dog. Not a dig. Bugger! Though I don't have a dig either, so that wasn't a lie Wink

FlashDrive · 24/11/2013 02:22

Any dog people still up? OUr new puppy is crying, she is in a crate downstairs.I can't sleep. I feel awful leaving her to cry.what can I do?

BOF · 24/11/2013 03:04

Just leave her, kiss. One or two heartbreaking nights, and it will be over.

Unless you are happy for her to sleep on your bed and kiss goodbye to your sex life. Which is very common Grin

DropYourSword · 24/11/2013 03:04

Hate to tell you, but you're all wrong Grin

My German shepherd cross border collie is actually best dog in the world .

FlashDrive · 24/11/2013 03:04

BOF · 24/11/2013 03:12

Ho yes Grin

DropYourSword · 24/11/2013 03:14

True flash...we need CATEGORIES.

mine would definitely win the `Giving you a cuddle and then poking their nose /elbow / paw into a really tender body part

DropYourSword · 24/11/2013 03:16

She'd also make a good contender for the SBD fart-off, and Enthusiastic but fruitless fly chasing

DropYourSword · 24/11/2013 03:23

And earn a special mention in the Falling asleep with just the very tip of her tongue protruding!

FlashDrive · 24/11/2013 03:24

Great idea

I think mine would be best of breed in Snoring

They are really considerate, they take turns, just to be sure I can never hear the telly

Grin Drop. Yes to the elbowing. Puppy was asleep on my lap the other day, I aas dying for a wee but didn't want to move him, he looked so peace. He managed to elbow me really hard, right in the bladder. Then he stretched and accidentally shoved his paw in my mouth.

He'd absolutely win 'stinky farting', 'gurning', and 'staring you down with big sad eyes'.

AscoyneDAscoyne · 24/11/2013 04:29

My rescue dog is amazing. She had just the worst start in life and every day I look at her and feel humble that she has accepted us as her family.
She has a gentle soul and we fucking love her, she surely is the best dog Smile

DropYourSword · 24/11/2013 04:32

Synchronised snoring Flash Grin

Just thought of another category...standing in the garden looking up at the sky during a pissing down thunderstorm wondering why she is getting wet instead of hiding her furry butt in one of the thousands of dry places available to her!

Dolcelatte · 24/11/2013 04:48

Just two words - unconditional love!

I had to wait a long time for my lovely boys, because of childhood allergies and work commitments, but they were so worth the wait and I couldn't imagine life without them in it IFYSWIM. They are happy when I am happy, comfort me if I am sad, and I feel safe with them as I know they would protect me with their lives if they had to. And they are so funny, they make me laugh with their antics. I don't think a house is a home without a four legged friend.

Privileged - absolutely! After DH and DC they are definitely the best thing that ever happened to me.

Ilovexmastime · 24/11/2013 06:37

I love my old staffie so much it physically hurts to think that I might lose him soon :(
He has been with me and been there for for 14 years, since before I had the DC and before I even met DH (he helped show me that DH was the one for me as DH didn't mind waking up after our first night together with a staffie lying between his legs - yes, really!). He's the most amazing character and everyone who knows him thinks he's ace. More than once we've had postmen getting to know him over time and then telling me that they'd love to take him home with them!
He gets on with our free range rabbits and guinea pigs and he's been fantastic with the DC even though it must have been hard for him (although I made sure I still gave him lots of love and attention too) to be ousted from the top spot in my affections.
Oh I could gush on forever, but I'm away from home for work at the moment and this is making me home sick!

CrocodileScream · 24/11/2013 07:45

BOF you showed me that photo over the summer in my "What breed should we get?" thread. Congratulations. I now have a lovely cav. Best dogs ever!

confusedwwyd · 24/11/2013 07:57

I love dogs. Can't have one though as ds had health problems. Once he is grown up I want a standard poodle so I can do agility and teach it tricks. It shall be a white one. Had two particularly amazing dogs growing up. Missed them very very much last night when ds wanted to watch homeward bound.

lougle · 24/11/2013 08:17

I love my dog. He's scared of pretty much everything, especially other dogs, so we don't walk him often because it's just traumatic for him (he has a big garden). He hates the cold and rain. If I do take him out for a walk and there is a strange noise, HE hides behind MY legs Hmm and he'd willingly shake our chickens to death.

But he has a heart of gold and is a faithful companion. He settles down with the children as they watch a film. He's wonderful.
