to ask for a yummy mummy changing bag for Christmas?

DD2 will be born in January and my old changing bag (a miracle bag) has worn out. It was great but I fancy a change this time. I have looked around at loads, but have fallen for the yummy mummy range, yes, the ones with the embroidered cupcake on. Not keen on the name/brand image, just think they look so pretty and practical. I know they are extortionate!

I am not a yummy mummy, although I do love cupcakes and own a Cath Kidston handbag.

I found them pretty crap actually. Pacapods are better.

Beamur · 20/11/2013 22:20

My baby is a baby no longer so I am unfamiliar with this brand, but it's Christmas and if you like it YANBU.

tiredteddy · 20/11/2013 22:20

Yes get one it will make you happy every time you use it if it's the one you want!

Xmasbaby11 · 20/11/2013 22:27

Oh no, crap, how so? It looks v similar in design to my old one, which is why I thought it would be practical.

Had two, loved them both. And I thought they were really practical! Get one if you like them.

Runwayqueen · 20/11/2013 23:08

Yanbu. They are lovely bags, I found mine very practical. Sadly dd is not in need of a change bag so have stored mine away just incase I get to use it again. Dd is now wearing a lovely little pink lining backpack

Purplefrogshoe · 20/11/2013 23:10

i loved mine, i used it for 3 years and now my sister is using it, well worth the money

WooWooOwl · 20/11/2013 23:12

YANBU at all!

You've looked around and you know what you want, so go for it.

BlackDaisies · 20/11/2013 23:12

I always thought these bags looked lovely. But as an older mum who had two awful sleepers, I always felt too haggard looking to be swinging around a bag saying "yummy mummy"!

greenbananas · 20/11/2013 23:15

If that's what you want for Christmas, then fair enough. Change bags are a big part of our lives when we have babies, so it is good to have one you feel comfortable with.

Nearly everyone I know uses the free bag they got with the Bounty pack from Boots. I have decanted everything into a more normal looking satchel.

Get something practical that you think is beautiful and you will be happy every time you deal with a poo-ey nappy Grin

montymum · 20/11/2013 23:17

YANBU Get whichever bag you like. I have this one on my wishlist. Not the yummy mummy range but still pink lining. My current bag is pink lining too and i have found it great.

Ooh that's really pretty Montymum!

I am an older mum and feeling pretty haggard these days too BlackDaisies. I definitely would not have considered myself yummy even pre kids, but I'm not going to let that put me off!

There's not an awful lot else I want / need for Xmas, so I'd rather get one really nice thing that I'll get lots of use out of.

On the Xmas list it goes! Now it's just a matter of deciding which one to go for ...

They are really expensive! Buy a cheap bag and spend the rest on your DC!

OneUp · 21/11/2013 00:37

YANBU at all. I want one too!

kickassangel · 21/11/2013 02:48

I think you should get something for yourself, and a nice changing bag for your dcs. Is your dh thinking of getting a nappy bag as his main present? If you're going to be doing most if the dirty work while on mat leave then he should be getting the nappy bag instead of a personal gift, not you. You are sacrificing a lot to have a child and care for it. He should do the same, or you both get your own treats.

Anything for your child is for your child. Get yourself a treat just for you.

But don't be an idiot and break the bank.

TakestheMNbiscuit · 21/11/2013 04:34

YANBU! I was never a fan until I had two DC 10months apart and needed a large one...stumbled across their twin range and fell in love! I find it's perfect for everything I need and yet not too bulky- it also looks brand new despite taking a regular battering at babygroup. I've heard they hold value too so selling on should be easy....

I want a new one [pout] ........Envy

SunnySon · 21/11/2013 07:47

I've used mine every day for the last 18 months, wipes clean and still looks good as new. Buy it!

Also you don't have to have Yummy Mummy written alongside it, choose the design you like in the blooming marvellous, mama et bebe range etc :)

TicTacZebra · 21/11/2013 07:51

YANBU. I want one too. Just wish they didn't say 'yummy mummy' on the front.

2013hell · 21/11/2013 07:53

I had one and it really wasn't worth the money.

TicTacZebra · 21/11/2013 07:53

Also, on eBay, they go for near enough the same price as a brand new one so you'll get your money back if you sell it on.

jollytummywobbles · 21/11/2013 07:59

I got a plain Jane one- same design, but no Yummy Mummy bit :) Tardis

Minnieisthedevilmouse · 21/11/2013 08:04

Buy it! Easiest aibu ever!!! Yanbu!!!

StuckOnARollercoaster · 21/11/2013 08:05

Get the bag you like. I have recently treated myself to a 'posh' bag to replace my boots freebie and it feels lovely to have a nice bag as am using it constantly, and I feel that bit smarter now I am out of the fog of newborn days!

DialsMavis · 21/11/2013 08:10

Why in earth would or should the OP spend HER Christmas £ on her DC? That's utterly ridiculous!!?! Outrageous.

ANormalOne · 21/11/2013 08:43

I have one and I love it.
