NC (not for this) but I'm long-standing MNer (Pom bear, naice ham...)

This might ruin the whole concept of AIBU but sometimes people pop up with opinions that I am shocked by, not because of what they are but just because they are so marginal. (SPs Cliff Richard obsession, for example?)

So, whilst encouraging you all to go forth and spread your weird and wonderful thoughts all over AIBU and elsewhere, what really unpopular opinions do you hold?

I have a couple of corkers, first one is that Kanye West however much of a knob he is actually is a genius.

Mine are all car related.

People who speed and drink drive should have much more serious sanctions. Repeat offenders should lose have their cars confiscated and serial repeat offenders should have their cars confiscated permanently. Driving needs to be taken as a serious responsibility.

Much more education should be given to people learning to drive and they should be exposed to the horrific ramifications of bad driving, speeding, drink driving etc.

Transport networks should be changed so that more room and rights are given to pedestrians, bikes and public transport (trams rather than buses). Why is it that these large lumps of metal called cars are given so much priority?

TheSinisterTrifle · 20/11/2013 19:23

I hate Audrey Hepburn films and Dirty Dancing and Billy Elliot and Educating Rita.

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 20/11/2013 19:24

You're daft if you don't do your Christmas food shop in Lidl or Aldi. Half an hour, in and out. Good food, minimal queue.

Actually don't. I like that there's no queue. Carry on spending three hours in Sainburys.

Andro · 20/11/2013 19:25

My opinion that manners are non-negotiable has been very unpopular with my DS recently...

Also:

It's perfectly fine for people on high salaries to moan about how much tax they pay (income/council/whatever).
Turning up to an interview in jeans and trainers will have a negative impact on how I see you.
Babies/young children do not belong in the workplace (I'm talking about people bringing their DC into work or to show their PFB off).
Nails on a blackboard sound better that either Blur or Oasis ever did.
Not all Audi drivers are tossers.

SPsWouldCatFishNev · 20/11/2013 19:26

I'd rather put pins in my eyes than have children.
I prefer my cats to most people.
Jimi Hendrix/U2/Led Zeppelin are way over rated.
I don't really care about current affairs, politics, scandals etc.
Most people with holiday complaints should have done their research and READ THE BROCHURE.

PresidentServalan · 20/11/2013 19:29

Bun Me too - babies are not cute but cats are!
I would shag David Tennant but also Jeremy Kyle and Jeremy Clarkson! Blush

And BF kind of creeps me out....

gamerchick · 20/11/2013 19:31

That all dogs and cats should have licences and an extra annual fee to keep them and any free roaming cat be captured and disposed of if caught outside more than once.

I'll not say what I would like to happen re dog muck.

usualsuspect · 20/11/2013 19:34

MN is not what it used to be.

There are more idiots on here than ever before.

ohtanmybum · 20/11/2013 19:34

Highlander - that's amazing and weird, I'm not the only judge-meister!
I admire and adore Mr T. Not many could carry off the R2 hair extensions as he does and be Dr W and a great Hamlet and he's a Scot - heaven in trousers.

shrunkenhead · 20/11/2013 19:34

I don't understand the save a table in a restaurant post! Newborns are indeed quite scrunched up and pink, ie not v attractive. Breast feeding is overrated, a friend of mine breastfed for years and her child is still plagued with allergies, your child's health is luck of the draw and not related to how you feed it.

ohtanmybum · 20/11/2013 19:34

And possibly a kilt.

Pearlsaplenty · 20/11/2013 19:35

I think zoos, farms and pet owners are all cruel. Real animal lovers love animals in the wild.

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 20/11/2013 19:36

Most tattoos just look like you've gone a bit nuts with a marker pen.

I mean the Japanese symbol on your back, tribal something or other on the arm, rose on your hip etc. Random scribblings that half the world has.

mousmous · 20/11/2013 19:36

that keeping pets is animal cruelty.

Twit · 20/11/2013 19:36

I hate summer. And Christmas. Religion fucks me right off with its nicey nicey tolerance and love but woe betide you if you don't agree with us bullying shit.

(I know most people who are religious are very lovely people, I obviously don't mean you/ them) or do I?

AlwaysInBed · 20/11/2013 19:37

I think people who worship at the feet of Apple are right, if I could afford it, I'd b everything there. Amazing.

And I quite like NetMums.

sanchopanda · 20/11/2013 19:38

That Islam is scarier than Scientology.

HappyMummyOfOne · 20/11/2013 19:38

Hate shows like X factor, towie etc
People should pay for their own children and the bedroom tax is not evil
Tattoos are awful likewise facial piercings
Earings on under 12's look yuk
Some children are not spirited etc but naughty
Being a parent is not a job neither does it warrant a person incapable of working
Weird or mis spelt names are simply terrible

MrsDoomsPatterson · 20/11/2013 19:38

Philip Schofield is a smug and arrogant twat

Fern, is that you?

mrspremise · 20/11/2013 19:39

I hate hate hate hyphenated names (just CHOOSE, dammit!), soap operas (nothing but shouting and snogging randomly arranged in badly decorated sets), wacky coloured hair dyes and multiple (or, frankly, any) tattoos...ooh, look at me, I'm SUCH an individual! Er, yeah, so is everyone, we're all unique, love Angry

But then I have a crush on Andrew Marr, so what do I know? Wink

LittleVikingChick · 20/11/2013 19:39

People who does not eat this or that for stupid reasons. It's ok to avoid stuff that you are allergic to (of course) and things you don't like. I'm also all for eating healthily most of the time and I apreciate people trying to eat "sustainably" (local, organic and whatever). But vegetarians, or even worse vegans, raw-food only eaters, people not eating any sugar ever. It all seems a bit pretentious to me, a bit 1st worldy. Many people starve in this world and you walk the planet and dare to be fussy with what you eat.

Being a bit of a foodie myself, the above opinion is maybe a bit hypocritical Grin

mrspremise · 20/11/2013 19:42

Oh, and if people allow their dogs to foul the streets or other public places, then people should be LEGALLY REQUIRED to post it back through their letterbox. Or put it in their handbag/pocket Grin

ProfondoRosso · 20/11/2013 19:42

Sushi is gross
Bad spelling is ok (on the internet)
Downton Abbey blows

...as does Dirty Dancing, Mamma Mia, Love Actually, Grease, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

I hate Converse.

Ryan Gosling is puny.

Phew!!

TooManyButtons · 20/11/2013 19:45

Everyone who campaigned for women to be "allowed" to go out to work was bonkers. We've not got equality now; we get to do the vast majority of childcare and housework, plus we're expected to hold down a full time job at the same time.
