Is an embarrassment to society. How can anyone be that thick?

what the hell does salty potatoe mean?!

I don't really warm to joey or any of the towie lot but it is unkind to laugh at someones intelligence.

I agree NewBlueCoat.

Why are some posters assuming he has SEN? Even if he was dyslexic or something like that it doesn't account for his complete ignorance. He makes the late Jade Goody look like Albert Einstein.

A salty potato, I am guessing is a nice looking? girl, tasty?

Mark Wright was best man at Jade Goody's wedding, he has since left, his family are still in TOWIE.

I would rather spend time with Joey than even breathe the same air as you OP.

I think he is coming across as a nice lad, quite sweet really. However I do find myself feeling a bit bad for him.....his spoken English seems very poor to the extent that he appears to struggle to express himself. I just think it must be difficult to go through life struggling to ask the question you want to or to say what you want to say.

No need to laugh at him though. I thought telling the time was one of those things a lot of people had trouble with tbh.

I hate the word "thick"
So Joey isn't that clever - not everybody is you know!
Being clever doesn't make you better than anybody else and being less clever/poorly educated for whatever reason does not make you an embarrassment to society.
Being judgemental and mean to someone you don't know makes you more of an embarrassment!
I'd rather spend time with someone like Joey Essex, a genuine down to earth boy than with someone who looks down their nose at so called 'thick' people.

Mark wright was jack tweeds best friend but Jack was lined up to go on Towie but he punched somebody and ended up in trouble instead, why do i know so much about these bloody people

Report
PoppyInTheFog · 19/11/2013 11:20

I wonder also why I know so much about them MrsJay Grin. You beat me on why Jack Tweed wasn't in TOWIE, I always wondered why he wasn't in it.

I do like him and think he comes across as a really lovely guy...

But I think the 'cant tell the time' thing is part of his act. I just don't believe that he doesn't know. My 3 year old can tell which hour it is, and she's pretty average!

well now you know poppy dunno how i know, It must be media drip feeding me because i have never watched towie in my life or anything Jade goody did , I think i need a tin foil hat to stop all this guff entering my head Grin

Couriousgeorgie, different parts of the brain are responsible for various functions of a human. Telling the time will be a different part of the brain to the part that reads maps for example.

Sorry but I think that unless you have severe learning difficulties, you should be in a position to tell the time in your twenties!

I dont see it as his 'fault' per say, more societies failure.

I don't dislike Joey Essex. He seems like a nice enough lad and his heart is in the right place. I think it has been reported he has got some learning difficulties.

I don't think he had the easiest of lives as a child. His mum committed suicide when he was 10 after battling depression. Who knows how his life was affected before? If you've ever watched TOWIE, you might have seen him breakdown over her death.

I have to stop and think each time I look at an anologue clock. I can't simply look and tell the time. I'm not wired that that way.

Tiredemma · 19/11/2013 11:30

I disliked him- my DS saw him as a role model and I was in despair- however after googling a bit about him I feel quite sorry for him.

The story about his mum when he was 10 etc - he is actually a nice lad I think.

Report
Fifibluebell · 19/11/2013 11:32

Seriously? He is probably dyslexic or has some other learning difficulty! Does it impact your life if he can't tell the time? you probably thought everyone would agree and all laugh at how thick he is! DFOD

My DS1(18) likes him Tired. Not as a role model, as such, but he likes his clothes and his style. I was a bit in despair too, but watched a bit of TOWIEBlush and thought he's harmless and there are a lot worse people on the planet.

Really Ciderbomb? Appalling?! Wow.

My DH is ridiculously clever in his field (as in he is a "go to" expert). His brain will not function to be able to use an analogue clock. He simply cannot do it. He is never late for anything given there are other options available to him, I fail to see why this is such a big deal?!

Actually, I fail to see why it is such a big deal to other people given it hasn't held him back in the slightest. Grin

I wasn't aware of him having SEN. Personally I think he puts it on,its as if he thinks its cool to act stupid, which is a shame as he is a role model to lots of young children.

There are thousands of inspirational inventors, authors and scientists why dont we look up to these people instead of a nice but dim guy from Essex? The worlds gone mad IMHO

His Mum didn't die recently, his Mum died when he was a child. It is never discussed why he was crying in TOWIE.

He was only told the real cause of his Mum's death as an adult.
