To really miss those early Sunday evening children's BBC serials we used to watch.

Such as The Phoenix and the Carpet etc.

We'd all watch them together with toast round the fire.

Wonder why they don't do them now.

Yes I liked these two. The last one I remember watching was the Snow Spider. But I think I missed the ending.

HettiePetal · 17/11/2013 16:39

Can't believe no one's mentioned Flambards.

That was my absolutely favourite - I fancied the pants off Will.

HettiePetal · 17/11/2013 16:40

absolute

Pfffff. Sorry.

PestoPeachissimos · 17/11/2013 16:41

Agnesboo · 17/11/2013 16:43

They did Fungus the Bogeyman about 8 years ago. They should do something else.

SquirtedPerfumeUpNoseInBoots · 17/11/2013 16:46

Oh yes, I loved Sunday evenings as a child.
And being allowed to watch Tales of the Unexpected although it scared the pants off me.

Retropear · 17/11/2013 16:47

Oh yes Heidi and The Secret Garden

Couldn't see any of them on Amazon.Sad

Was the Lone Ranger with Tonto and the white horse "Hey Ho Silver"?
Bells ringing vaguely in my rusty memories. We saw it in black and white TV.
Flipper too was in the 60s.

Gatekeeper · 17/11/2013 16:53

The Franchise Affair
The Strange Affair of Adelaide Harris
there was another good one about a family that moved to an old house and the girl found a music box that triggered off hauntings of a kind old lady...can't remember what it was called...the something house mystery

MurderOfGoths · 17/11/2013 16:56

We had a whole Sunday routine, me and brother had baths and got into our pyjamas while mum and dad sorted out food. Which was always a buffet including the leftover cold meat from the earlier roast and loads of salad and crisps, and the cheese board. Then we'd all settle down to watch whatever was being shown. Very fond memories.

Would love to do that with DS once he's older.

Gatekeeper · 17/11/2013 16:56

Clifton House Mystery

KungFuBustle · 17/11/2013 16:56

I can highly recommend Yonder land if you haven't seen it yet. ds loved it. Horrible histories crew.

I remember the borrowers and something I cannot name, different story every week, very mythical and fantasy based. I'm sure there was a narrator too.

Retropear · 17/11/2013 16:58

Murder we did that with bread and dripping covered in salt on bread too.

Kungfu, you are thinking of The Storyteller with John Hurt...lovley series

Astarael · 17/11/2013 17:00

Was The Magician's House a Sunday night thing too? That was brilliant!

MurderOfGoths · 17/11/2013 17:01

Oh god I forgot the most obvious one! The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe!

womma · 17/11/2013 17:02

Loved these series! I wish the BBC would bring them back.

DontmindifIdo · 17/11/2013 17:02

oh yes, the cronical of narnia ones in the run up to Christmas, it normally started about this time, so it was before you started opening your advent calander, but you knew Christmas was on it's way!

can we start a campaign to get the beeb to bring it back?

Sieveoooplay · 17/11/2013 17:02

YANBU

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was fabulous.

olivo · 17/11/2013 17:03

I miss them too. My favourite was the return of the Antelope, they filmed some of it near us and a few friends were extras in it.

Catmint · 17/11/2013 17:03

Tripods!
