To be finding imaginary play utterly should destroying?

I've tried to divert ds with paints, play doh and sticking.

Nope. He's still bossing me around doing imaginary play. When I do it it isn't right and I get corrected. I'm being instructed on what to say and do and it's driving me up the fucking wall.

Every sentence that comes out of his mouth is 'you do this, ok?'
'Now you have to do this ok?'

He's 4. Will it stop soon?

I love imaginative play with ds. His imagination is like mine - quite active. I think it's great.

I feel guilty that I'm not better at IP.
I know it's good for him and it also distracts him from "helping" with his baby DSis, and I love it in principle but it's not as easy as I was hoping for. He keeps changing the "rules".
