seriously, my life is pretty boring but the day I get all worked up and teery over a sodding sainsburys/tesco/john lewis advert is the day I stick my head in the oven.

maybe its just mumsnet...I mean the john lewis advert made it into discussion of the day, can't see the aldi/lidl adverts will get the same reaction here....

Anyone seen the Littlewoods one? I honestly don't have an issue with Myleene Klass (I have serious issues with her arse of an ex though) but they've signed up Mark Wright from Towie and that's enough for me to want to burn down their warehouse.

I realise I may be over-reacting slightly...

jellyboatsandpirates · 13/11/2013 22:53

Bah boo Humbug. I luffs Christmas. Grin

Oh, thank God - the man makes me rage!

And my ex has a friend who sees Mark Wright as a role model and thinks he's smart!

TeacakeEater · 13/11/2013 23:02

According to my tv info they are going to talk about the ads on Newsnight.Confused

Heartbrokenmum73 · 13/11/2013 23:05

Paxman is going to do his 'really?' face, isn't he?

BeCoolFucker · 13/11/2013 23:06

i love Christmas too.

It's just for me multi million pound TV advertisements created by huge corporations designed to get me to spend spend spend, have nothing to do with Christmas at all.

BeCoolFucker · 13/11/2013 23:07

Heartbroken DD1's birthday is this weekend - I don't think too much about Xmas until "the best day of the year" (DD1's words) is done and dusted.

Ecuador · 13/11/2013 23:16

Newsnight item interesting.

They have become a massive feature and I like them, bit like I enjoy buying the Christmas issue of the Radio Times.

Those adverts would not make me spend a bean more in any particular store but I do enjoy watching them. The Sainsbury's one looks great, sorry I missed it earlier.

Ecuador · 13/11/2013 23:17

They will all be reading this according to the report, social media very important Grin!

Love Helena in M&S one.

Paxman is about to implode!

ToysRLuv · 13/11/2013 23:56

YANBU. It's incomprehensible. Confused

I'm not sure I love Christmas either, tbh. All the stress and forced jollity.

ToysRLuv · 13/11/2013 23:58

I find the Helena B-C M&S one cringy. I keep thinking, how much have these people been paid to pretend they give a shit about M&S? Also, the script is dire.

Viviennemary · 13/11/2013 23:59

It's far too early for Christmas adverts. Bah humbug from me too.

Bazoo23 · 14/11/2013 07:57

Love absolutely everything about Christmas including the ads! Didnt think the JL one with the little boy was cute it made me cringe!

Ecuador · 14/11/2013 09:24

Agree it is too bloody early though, middle of November fgs!

Heartbrokenmum73 · 14/11/2013 09:31

I also love the Christmas Radio Times!

Not as much fun as when I was a kid though because Christmas telly meant so much more then, before Sky, DVDs, even videos in my family. Four channels only. And when you saw that trailer on BBC1 or ITV showing you the Christmas highlights? Oh boy!

I can remember getting extremely excited because Return of the Jedi was going to be on. And Indiana Jones. Magic!

specialsubject · 14/11/2013 10:01

lots of false emotion about and it is one of the things that really irritates me - witness the crappy talent shows with everyone bursting into tears about everything.

this silly princessy ads are just more of the same. Pass the sick bucket...

killpeppa · 14/11/2013 10:11

boohoo scrooge.

got a bit teary at the tesco oneBlush

Petal02 · 14/11/2013 10:17

I love Christmas, and Christmas adverts. I'm 44, but I don't care!!

mrsjay · 14/11/2013 10:17

aww but the JL is adorable a hare and bear waking up to see christmas what isnt to like Grin

FutTheShuckUp · 14/11/2013 10:23

Don't be miserable. Christmas always makes me feel emotional. It's a mixture of happiness at thinking back to my own childhood tinged with bittersweet joy at my kids growing up and they won't believe in Father Christmas much longer welling up writing this im such a sap
This does not stop me feeling sorrow and immense empathy at people losing their lives all over the world, children being neglected and abused and dying at he hands of those who are meant to protect them.

mrsjay · 14/11/2013 10:27

oh god yes why is mark wright and his daft new haircut advertising clothes that he would never wear anyway he gets on my wick

givemeaclue · 14/11/2013 10:29

Agree

AbsDuCroissant · 14/11/2013 10:40

I'm with the OP. They're adverts. They're made to squeeze as much money out of you as possible, they're not the major cultural event they're being made out to be.

mrsjay · 14/11/2013 10:42

well I have never been in a john lewis in my life and the advert doesn't make me want to rush to buy from one anytime soon I think they are just a distraction and adorable
