seriously, my life is pretty boring but the day I get all worked up and teery over a sodding sainsburys/tesco/john lewis advert is the day I stick my head in the oven.

maybe its just mumsnet...I mean the john lewis advert made it into discussion of the day, can't see the aldi/lidl adverts will get the same reaction here....

Wait till you see the sainsburys one, rumour has it it's 30 mins long Grin, good job I haven't got a life so will be able to watch it Hmm

Raddy · 13/11/2013 20:55

Ooh I am going to Philomena at the weekend. Poor dh.

I am normally unable to speak for 30 minutes after exiting the cinema, pretty much regardless of what genre the film was.

Thisisaghostlyeuphemism · 13/11/2013 20:58

Ooh it's terrible reddy, a perfect night out for the lachrymose!

Tell your dp to arm himself with hankies for you and brace yourself!

Why this strong reaction, Tee? OP was just airing an opinion, on what is, the last time I checked, a very public forum.

Heartbrokenmum73 · 13/11/2013 21:03

Maryz - no. Please, God, no Grin

Meglet · 13/11/2013 21:09

yanbu. It's all got a little silly now.

The only one I've ever had time for was the John Lewis (?) one a couple of years ago. I kept sniggering at it after Charlie Brookers "head in a box" comments.

ssd · 13/11/2013 21:09

go on maryz, but jesus if you say you cried over the john lewis one I'll shoot myself

OP posts:
Heartbrokenmum73 · 13/11/2013 21:11

Oh my God Meglet - Charlie Brooker rips adverts a new one, doesn't he? He kills me!

bruxeur · 13/11/2013 21:21

Charlie Brooker, the Daily Mash - all v good.

BeCoolFucker · 13/11/2013 21:27

YANBU
its ghastly

insummeritrains · 13/11/2013 21:33

I think there's something wrong with you if you don't feel even a shred of emotion at this year's sainsbury's or the JL with the little boy from a couple of years back.
I don't think anyone is proclaiming its their whole life to be watching these ads, just part of everyday culture and something to chat about, innit.

insummeritrains · 13/11/2013 21:34

Oh, YABU. In my humble opinion Smile

They are created to tap into the emotions. Adverts won't work on all people though and shut adverts won't appeal to very many at all.

Whilst I don't share the interests of other people, I can understand and respect that other people are different and not see any reason to get funny about it.

DavidHarewoodsFloozy · 13/11/2013 21:43

I watched the JL one, first time last night and found it strangely moving.

Didn,t like it as much as the beach Southern Comfort ad.Smile

ariadneoliver · 13/11/2013 22:21

I really enjoy watching them...honestly not because I shop in those shops particularly, I'm not part of the JL brigade but I think their adverts are touching and the music is always lovely. I also enjoy the theme of the M and S one and the lovely colours and costumes and that gorgeous girl, whatever her name is. I think they are well made, imaginative and fun to watch. It's not life or death, obviously we all have much more going on in our lives but it's a bit of fun, something to chat about.

Heartbrokenmum73 · 13/11/2013 22:38

Oooh you're harsher than me!

DD's birthday is last day of November so I try to ignore it until then, but yesterday the Morrisons advert was on (with Ant & Dec) and DD said 'see, it's Christmas season, you can't argue with Ant & Dec'.

So she's getting no birthday presents now as we must have passed her birthday already Grin
