to ask how much you receive in tax credits?

We've had a change in circumstances so I've just had a new award through the door.

They're giving us £1100 every four weeks.

This seems a huge amount?

Does anyone else get this much?

OP posts:
itscockyfoxagain · 13/11/2013 16:18

No we don't get that much.

softlysoftly · 13/11/2013 16:19

Seems high

SoonToBeSix · 13/11/2013 16:19

Depends how many dc you have and if it includes childcare.

AngelsLieToKeepControl · 13/11/2013 16:20

Check your details on the tax credits site to see if it comes up with the same amount. Then phone and confirm with them that you are getting the right amount or you could end up being over paid.

Sonnet · 13/11/2013 16:21

I'd check that, seems a large amount

angelos02 · 13/11/2013 16:21

Fucking hell. That is my monthly take-home pay for working full time. Good to hear people are getting such sums for doing nowt.

mumofthemonsters808 · 13/11/2013 16:21

£50 a week here

lillias · 13/11/2013 16:22

Fucking hell that is what I take home from my full time job.

TantrumsAndBalloons · 13/11/2013 16:23

Oh come on angelos you have no idea if the OP is working or the award covers childcare or anything at all.

It's hardly money for doing fuck all is it?

GinGinGin · 13/11/2013 16:24

Op it does seem a lot, I'd check that carefully as sometimes they make mistakes & you'll be expected to pay back the surplus if they have Sad

lillias · 13/11/2013 16:24

But whatever the circumstances, they shouldn't get a whole other WAGE on top of what they have coming in, no?

lougle · 13/11/2013 16:26

This thread is going to end so well Hmm

CairoPrankster · 13/11/2013 16:26

I agree, you must check with them that this is correct. It seems like a lot but I don't know your circs. I have been overpaid in the past and it only leads to hardship in the long run as you have to pay it back.

gamerchick · 13/11/2013 16:27

It depends on how many kids and what not. If you have one kid and don't get dla then yes its too much Grin

I get SFA I could have done a jig not having to deal with the swines for as long as I can.

silverangel · 13/11/2013 16:27

Wow. More than I take home...

lillias · 13/11/2013 16:27

How many children? How much coming in in wages?

RedbreastRobin · 13/11/2013 16:27

We're both working Hmm we have 3 DC, and do use childcare.

OP posts:
IneedAsockamnesty · 13/11/2013 16:27

How many children? Any disabled? And is childcare included?

TantrumsAndBalloons · 13/11/2013 16:28

Yes, it sounds like a lot. But, there's no point starting in about money for nothing when we don't actually know anything.

RedbreastRobin · 13/11/2013 16:28

All of the information on the award is correct... our income... the DC.... etc

OP posts:
lillias · 13/11/2013 16:28

How many hours do you each work?

lougle · 13/11/2013 16:28

Some people well get that much, some more, some less.

IneedAsockamnesty · 13/11/2013 16:28

That's why its high because its quite likely that 50-70% of your childcare is covered.

SeaSickSal · 13/11/2013 16:29

Have you gone on to income based job seekers?

That seems like the amount for that.

Assume you're getting housing benefit too.

It does seem a bit unfair, I get part of my childcare paid plus £100 but after the rent and childcare is paid we have nothing like £1100.00 free cash.

It's a sad state of affairs when work is the route into poverty and not the way out.

angelos02 · 13/11/2013 16:29

That is surely an extra zero on there OP?
