We've had a change in circumstances so I've just had a new award through the door.

They're giving us £1100 every four weeks.

This seems a huge amount?

Does anyone else get this much?

It's this (making a go of it) or ending up like lillias...

but that's ok? she's essentially laughing up her sleeve because i have to go out to work all day, which she would have to do if the state didn't baby her? she's laughing because I never see my kid? she thinks it's FUNNY?

youarewinning · 13/11/2013 17:16

MrsSippie I suspect it's because your DH works under 16 hours.

It is probably right. However I agree if your unsure check the online calculator.

TantrumsAndBalloons · 13/11/2013 17:17

I think you are being taunted because of your bitter attitude.

Personally, I am happy I am in a job I like and that pays me well enough not to need any tax credits.

You sound thoroughly jealous of people who earn minimum wage.

So yes. I would also rather not end up with an attitude like yours.

LittleTulip · 13/11/2013 17:18

Caretakers, learning support assistants, cleaners, school admin staff, care assistants, refuse collectors, waiters and waitresses - all roles that are paid a low wage, but are essential.

I'm pretty certain 'refuse collectors' are on a much higher wage than you actually think.

And if you actually calm down and think the OP was talking about her DH making a go of his business. That she wants it to work out.
That's it.
Probably because she would like him to be successful and not bitter.

There was no mention of finding you not spending time with your child funny.

RowanMumsnet · 13/11/2013 17:20

OK - going to lock this one down while we have a look. Thanks for all the reports.

lillias · 13/11/2013 17:21

probably. if i worked 16 hrs termtime for my currebnnt wage - no it's more, because it's 4 weeks, not a month... then i would be remarkably sane because i would have time for something other than fucking working.

Squidwardtenticles · 13/11/2013 17:21

I get £196 per week tax credits. I work and have 3 dc. Dp is currently unemployed.

youarewinning · 13/11/2013 17:22

lillias if your working FT and earning 1100 a month are you sure your not entitled? If that's your only household income and you have children.

DaddyPigsMistress · 13/11/2013 17:22

fairy Grin
They would probably be returned for a full refund. The little swines would break mary poppins within 24 hours

BornOfFrustration · 13/11/2013 17:23

LIllias they're only getting what they're entitled to claim, I find it hard to get worked up about it. MP's claiming their weekly shop back via expenses on the other hand...

RedbreastRobin · 13/11/2013 17:24

lillias - I was referring to your bitter attitude and your miserable working life. (It must be miserable if you are that bitter)

I will laugh into my sleeve once my DH's business is successful enough that I don't have to work at all and I can squeeze handbag shopping in between all the wonderful quality time I can spend with my children, and we will can all admire him when he flexes his 'real man' muscles whilst throwing £50 notes at us. (You know all the £50 note we'd have saved up form all the tax credits we are receiving

that will "probably" never happen

How would her DHs business stop her ending up 'like me?'

*It's this (making a go of it) or ending up like lillias...

she meant, 'it's this'....work very few hours, have pretend business, to max out tax credits, otherwise i'd have to work every hour like that fool and not spend lovely lovely times at home with my dc all week, no thank you'

SolomanDaisy · 13/11/2013 17:24

Lilias, if the OP' s life sounds so fucking great, why not get a job like hers and claim tax credits? Then you too can enjoy the constant stream of state subsidised weekends that is her life.
