I find it impossible to use these days.

There is a fight on every thread. And I don't just mean in a yanbu/yabu sort of way. I mean that people are happy to round on others because they have different reasons for being here.

I have even seen a row between two different support threads this week.

If you want to make friends you are told off for being royalty or cliquey.

If you want to indulge in a little mild gossiping you are shouted down for being judgemental or shallow.

If you want to have a lighthearted chat you have to make that clear in the thread title nowadays.

I find the general mood of the place to be aggressive, angry, confrontational, defensive, impossible, predictable.

I keep hoping that things will improve, but how ?

Mn used to be a lot more cliquey with a palpable heid girl vibe about certain posters
Now mn so big, there's space and topics for everyone.imo is better
As with any big group you'll get affinities and you'll get opposing views

Gertrain · 12/11/2013 20:26

Or the grande departe. But that's in Yorkshire?! Or Glasgow's Christmas lights extravagance.

usualsuspect · 12/11/2013 20:28

I think it was because it was much smaller then.

It was cliquey, but there were some very funny threads.

That's why I hung about because it made me laugh. There didn't seem to be so many po faced buggers about.

scottishmummy · 12/11/2013 20:29

I can assuredly say it's been fuck all do do with trams
That would finish anyone aff

I think some of the threads from then would go a completely different way now.

SmugAndSanctimoniousArsehole · 12/11/2013 20:32

I am snorting most unattractively at BoF.

It is all a bit fightier round here than normal, that is true. Don't know what can be done about though.

claig · 12/11/2013 20:34

Welcome back scottishmumy!
MN had gorn to the dogs when I didn't see you and Xenia around. Where is Xenia? Is she back?

DebrisSlide · 12/11/2013 20:36

As someone who largely lurks these days, it seems that MN is mainly for the jaded to hang around gathering evidence for the weekly gawn to the dogs thread Grin.

And said threads end up in the high-hundreds with posters actually moaning about each other*, whilst bonded in moany matrimony. And thus creating a situation where only those who are brave, ignorant or not yet jaded at the 576th re-run of the SAHM/WOHM or BF/FF threads are bothered to post that much at all except on the MN eating itself threads. Possibly also out of fear that they end up being referred to in one of those threads (not hard, given the wide-ranging list of faux-pas).

It's not an MN thing, it's a forum thing.

*it's not PO-worthy just because you don't find the subject one that triggers a response and what you do find comment worthy is not magically non-PO to other PO-moaners.

scottishmummy · 12/11/2013 20:38

I bet eve posted aibu to eat his apple, and got a pasting for it
Mn has always had a frisson,That's the bloody point
If you want sparkly twinkly Huns there are plenty sites excel at that, not mn though

FunnysInLaJardin · 12/11/2013 20:41

OK, I am sure this has been posted a 1000 times, but scottishmummy is that really you being all lucid and everything?

FunnysInLaJardin · 12/11/2013 20:43

oh and I still like MN, it gives me someone to talk to when all alone in my lonely office all day, and then in the pm when DH slopes off to watch Poirot or some such

scottishmummy · 12/11/2013 20:45

Now that's worthy of aibu...my dh watches poirot is that emotionally cruel

FunnysInLaJardin · 12/11/2013 20:49

I think I might start one..........>>over 'ere

scottishmummy · 12/11/2013 20:51

See I like bit of murder she wrote but I'd never watch poirot

FunnysInLaJardin · 12/11/2013 20:55

I am not keen on any detective series tbh, preferring almost exclusively to watch RL documentaries on C4, along with the odd filum.

Why oh why did I start that AIBU btw? Last few times I have had a slap from MNHQ for goading ffs. I think it's all fun, but oh no, someone reports and off we go........

usualsuspect · 12/11/2013 20:56

You can't beat a bit of midsomer murders.

RandallFloyd · 12/11/2013 21:01

And all is right with the MN world.

We've all been prattling on about how crappy it's been on here recently and we've not had our antidote.

Not one 'gorn to the dogs', 'sycophantic bawbags' haiku to get us all back on track.

We can all pull our heads out of our arses and stop whinging now Grin

In fairness, the DH with the chili on his gentleman's area was pretty funny.

FunnysInLaJardin · 12/11/2013 21:02

I just about coped with What Remains and only because there was lesbians and mummification

usualsuspect · 12/11/2013 21:05

I only seem to post on threads moaning about MN these days.

scrummummy · 12/11/2013 21:11

I love mumsnet Grin it has given me support. laughs . giggles and a good read. I love Aibu I can see lots of peoples views -not some I agree with- but I love mn

AbsDuCroissant · 12/11/2013 21:22

Oh yay! What a happy thread!

I like your name change GetOrf. And now I know the way to smoke you out ... mwahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Please all come back to this thread tomorrow so I can be entertained and not accidentally stroll into some cesspit of racism and xenophobia. Again.

Where was the racism? I feel like I missed a new low there.
Although I'm not sure 'missed' is quite the right word.
Successfully avoided might be better!

Nagoo · 12/11/2013 21:51

whatever any of you said after 'cunt vacuum' got chortled all over by me, but we're just in a trough IMO. We'll peak again. I've still had enough laughs this week to keep me sane. Thanks
