You guys use Acronyms a hell of a lot. I know there's a page which lists all of them but, hell Calm Down! Wink

media.heavy.com/media/2013/05/damn.jpg even.

Trills · 08/11/2013 10:20

We're just too busy to type it all out.

That, or it's about indicating that we are a part of the ingroup - we know the rituals and mores of the groups and want to be included.

Sallyingforth · 08/11/2013 10:20

DBU. WCUAIWW.

tiktok · 08/11/2013 10:21

Um....what is not calm about using acronyms?

Why does it bother you?

DaddyThunder · 08/11/2013 10:24

IMHO IJT it makes it harder for MNU to get involved.

Sallyingforth .... WTF? lol

OP posts:
Joysmum · 08/11/2013 10:27

I must admit, as someone new to here is makes it hard to understand a lot of the posts and seem cliquey because the regulars know them all and are happy using them. Not a moan, just an observation Wink

Joysmum · 08/11/2013 10:27

Wey hey, just did my first smiley!

usualsuspect · 08/11/2013 10:29

DILLIGAF

TheVermiciousKnid · 08/11/2013 10:30

Calm down? Hmm

Trills, I'm disappointed. You missed an opportunity to point out that this shouldn't be in AIBU! Grin

Trills · 08/11/2013 10:56

The OP clearly IS being unreasonable - I guess the question is implied :o

Yes, YABU to complain about our use of acronyms. If you don't like it, go to another forum that suits your tastes better.

RaspberryRuffle · 08/11/2013 11:37

Okay so Sallyingforth has told OP not to be unreasonable and asserted our right to use acronyms if we want to, whilst usualsuspect does not have the outward appearance of someone who gives a fuck.
YABU OP, we luffs acronyms and if you stick around you will (in your head) be referring to your DH or OH or wondering if your DC should really be left alone with your MIL as the LO is end and MIL might give formula.

RaspberryRuffle · 08/11/2013 11:40

Aargh, silly phone, the LO is ebf.
Can we establish a standard acronym for spell check failure?

Giyadas · 08/11/2013 11:43

Imo yabu, ymmv. Hth.

mrstigs · 08/11/2013 11:44

Your mileage may vary. Hihboh Grin

Beastofburden · 08/11/2013 11:49

It is a bit of a private language. When you join MN you do get a lot of anti-Newbie stuff from some posters.

Newbies are nice, We keep the site refreshed, you need a balance between the long-term members and the new voices.

but sometimes we dont understand anything that's going on

Fakebook · 08/11/2013 11:55

Acronyms have been around since the start of the Internet. Unless you've been living under a rock for the past 15 years I don't know how you can't understand them.

tethersend · 08/11/2013 11:57

Why don't you just get stuck in?
Another way to make communication easier has to be good?
No?
Kind, thoughtful, funny posters still use acronyms, you know.
Everyone here does.
Really.
Some more so than others, granted.

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 08/11/2013 11:57

YABVU IMO.

WLTS ODFOD but AFAIK MNHQ don't like it, but then again TSSNCOP.

Beastofburden · 08/11/2013 12:06

No, I am trying, honestly, but there are a lot of them. And not all of them are standard ones used elsewhere.
