To find this disgusting

DPs cousin is staying with us ATM, she is 22, in full time work and has her own flat which she shares with friends back home (still UK).

She's been here nearly a week and so far I have found MASSIVE skid marks with actual clumps of poo right down the back of the toilet above the waterline (how did she even manage that?!). A used tampon floating in the toilet, used tampons loose in the bin and balls of poo floating in the toilet which obviously hasn't been flushed properly, including the remnants of what I can only assume was diarrhoea all over the underneath of the toilet seat. I know it was her because it is only me and her in the house ATM. She is very posh and well to do but every time I look at her I envisage her poo balls floating in the toilet!

AIBU to find it bloody vile?

The poo thing wouldn't bother me.. Most people just close lid and flush. Not many would have a look afterwards to check it had all gone.

Really? Confused That's gross. I would always check.

Cleaning your own skid marks off as soon as they appear is easy. So is flushing the toilet twice if need be. Scraping off ingrained skid marks is much harder. Especially when they're made by other people. Gross.

Nobody is allowed to clean my toilets. If somebody used my brush to wipe off fresh skids I would go nuts.

The only time in my house is when training my kids how to clean a toilet when they're old enough.

I'm weird about my bogs.. just shit and leave!

ForFawkesSakeNoGuyForSolo · 04/11/2013 11:06

I don't let my Dc's do it either gamer as I know the brush would end up covered in toilet roll and I can't stand that! as it happens, my children rarely leave any skids in the pan :)

gamerchick · 04/11/2013 11:22

Yes.. toilet roll and then dried on bits of turd. No just no.

I know bog brushes are cheap to replace but I'd rather know what mines been doing Grin

samandi · 04/11/2013 11:36

You can use tissue to wipe fresh skids off ... no need for the brush. I don't like getting brushes pooey either!

mitchsta · 04/11/2013 13:41

That is absolutely disgusting. Say something, but bear in mind that even if you do mention it, she might just do a half-hearted job and you'll have to finish it properly anyway. I had a lodger who was the same. I frequently mentioned that the bathroom was disgusting and needed cleaning (I used the en-suite while he lived here, so he had free reign of the main bathroom) but he rarely managed anything more than a quick wipe round when the plug holes "got too orange" (WTF?!). When he moved out, it took me 5 hours to clean all the skid marks/stains from the toilet bowl, mould/limescale from the bath/shower and get rid of the general grime and scum he'd left all over the bathroom. I considered re-sealing the bath because the mould was so bad, but a bit of persistence with the bleach and LOTS of mould spray eventually paid off. Some people are just like that.

Next time you want to use the loo & it needs cleaning-just tell her!

"You need to clean your shit up"

ForFawkesSakeNoGuyForSolo · 04/11/2013 23:34

Grin She'll be gone soon!

NancyShrew · 07/11/2013 20:15

I left a note and nothing has changed, so I have literally taken to saying to her "do you mind cleaning the loo please" three times a day every time she leaves a mess. Alas she's staying another bloody week now, which I have no idea why I agreed to. Her boyfriend is coming over tomorrow night as well, would it be incredibly mean to mention his girlfriends terrible toilet hygiene .

Maybe she secretly hates me. Maybe leaving her big shitty marks all over my crystal white toilet is her way of sticking two fingers to me.

I did not know that you're not supposed to flush tampons.

Financeprincess · 07/11/2013 23:35

What you have described would drive me mad. Agree with the other posters that bluntness is the only way. It's pure selfishness on her part; perhaps she thinks that it should be somebody else's job to clean up after her.

My DSS (16) and DSD (19) do this every time they visit. DH was too wimpy to pull them up on it, so now when they leave I say, "I hope I won't find any faeces on the lavatory bowl" - that soon gets them scurrying for the bleach!
