Dh bought some chocolates today. There were 14 little chocolate covered orange strips in the packet for 10 pounds Shock

I have been being so careful with our finances lately. I have denied myself and Dc's, making a reall effort to cut back on our spending.

I don't even like the ones he chose Angry

Crikey. Were they a gift or just because? If just because YANBU. Hasn't he ever heard of Galaxy?

pianodoodle · 29/10/2013 17:59

10 pounds?! Is it laced with cocaine?

wakemeupnow · 29/10/2013 17:59

They were a gift to himself.

^^ If it is can I have some??!

Littleredsquirrel · 29/10/2013 18:00

Did he buy them for you or for a treat for himself or just to share?

There was clearly some thought process behind a purchase like that. More likely to have been "wakemeupnow would like some nice chocolate" than "I know, if I spend a tenner we don't have on chocolate that'll show her!"

Its annoying. I would be annoyed at the waste of money. But I would keep it inside.

lessonsintightropes · 29/10/2013 18:00

That was at Pianodoodle, sorry. For himself? YANBU to be cross. I think a rather nice bottle of Wine for you which you don't have to share with him might be in order...

Littleredsquirrel · 29/10/2013 18:01

sorry cross post.

Ah well if a gift for himself then rather extravagent but would you be as annoyed if he'd gone out and bought a CD?

SomethingOnce · 29/10/2013 18:02

Ooh, where did he buy them? I going to guess in London N1.

Beccagain · 29/10/2013 18:04

I was all ready to say YABU, don't look a gift horse in the mouth, what a sweetie etc, then I read he bought them for himself.

What a WANKAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!

wakemeupnow · 29/10/2013 18:05

He's not normally so extravagant . He's just got back from 3 weeks work in far off exotic places whilst I have been here with 3 dc and half term...

creepypenisreaper · 29/10/2013 18:07

Is he the kind of person who hardly buys himself anything? My DP is like this, barely spends a penny on himself, so when he does decide to spend £100 on a collectors edition of a video game, I just calmly remind myself that 'it's his money, he can treat himself once in a while.' I definitely spend more on myself.

If he does this all the time then YANBU. But if he is otherwise frugal cut him some slack, it's just a wee luxury

RandomMess · 29/10/2013 18:07

Shame, he can't even take them back Sad

wakemeupnow · 29/10/2013 18:11

Not sure why I am so pissed off .. guess I am just Envy that he gets to travel and do interesting things whilst I've been trying to entertain kids without spending money here.

It depends a bit on how much he relishes the chocolates. I would eat them in about .02 seconds Blush which would be very wasteful but if he really enjoys them then that is a lot less wasteful. IYSWIM

wakemeupnow · 29/10/2013 18:14

I think the kids have scoffed them now.. I refused to even sample one ...oh when did I become such a moody stingy bitch Confused

OP posts:
eggyweggies · 29/10/2013 18:14

Did he get them from the airport ?

wakemeupnow · 29/10/2013 18:16

thanks for the Wine lessons < pours self very big glass>

NotYouNaanBread · 29/10/2013 18:17

Hotel Chocolat? I buy myself a tiny treat there every so often to cheer myself up.

If the worst thing your DH does is occasionally blow £10 on fancy chocolate, things aren't so bad. YABU.

TwoTearsInABucket · 29/10/2013 18:18

What a disgusting choice of chocolate! He could have at least bought something to share with everyone. Did he get you anything from his trip away?
Yanbu

ICameOnTheJitney · 29/10/2013 18:19

You HAVE to tell us where they're from now! Stop avoiding the question!

wakemeupnow · 29/10/2013 18:19

We popped into town to somewhere and he saw the chocolate shop.. He is a bit of a choc addict.

OP posts:
thebody · 29/10/2013 18:22

yeuk!! ASDA basics chocolate is the nicest I have ever tasted. Thorntons is horrible.

it's 30 p for a huge bar and that leaves lots more for wine!!

your dh is a wastral.. Grin

wakemeupnow · 29/10/2013 18:23

It was a very posh French one. Each individual chocolate costs a fortune ...A box of chocolates could bankrupt you

OP posts:
mrsminiverscharlady · 29/10/2013 18:27

What a twattish thing to do. I'd be Angry

wakemeupnow · 29/10/2013 18:32

I see I am gonna have to treat myself to something equally extravagant now just to make it seem fair Grin and it wont be chocolate covered marmalade.
