Dh bought some chocolates today. There were 14 little chocolate covered orange strips in the packet for 10 pounds Shock

I have been being so careful with our finances lately. I have denied myself and Dc's, making a reall effort to cut back on our spending.

I don't even like the ones he chose Angry

YANBU. Selfish bar steward!

Sirzy · 29/10/2013 18:38

If he isn't normally extravagant then I don't think treating himself to something for £10 is that unreasonable unless its the last available £10.

SomethingOnce · 29/10/2013 18:40

Oh come on, OP, name the shop - you're hardly going to out yourself and we need to know in order to decide if he WBU.

theboutiquemummy · 29/10/2013 18:41

Are you pissed orf because you've been overlooked 3 weeks on jollies then he treats himself not fair at all

What he should have done was get you a selection to share help with bedtime bath time brought a bottle if wine n you have a snuggle when the kids have gone to bed

So Yanbu

However Yabu if you don't tell him that so he knows for next time

SomethingOnce · 29/10/2013 18:41

Valrhona?!

YesterdayI · 29/10/2013 18:45

The OPs DH wasn't on a jolly he was working. My DH travels to exotic destinations for work, he travels first class, stays in five star hotels and eats in the best restaurants - he HATES it Sad and would much, much rather be at home with me and the kids.

mrsminiverscharlady · 29/10/2013 18:47

My friend's dh says that to her YesterdayI. He told me that he just says that to make her feel better Grin Wink

wakemeupnow · 29/10/2013 18:50

I don't reckon Dh suffers too much for his work ..

Travelling for work is not at all like loads of free holidays. It's crap, even if you're in a nice place. 14 hours in transit with a breakfast strategy meeting 45 mins after landing, no way would I go back to that.
As for the chocs, if he has a spare tenner for a treat, then so do you.

wakemeupnow · 29/10/2013 19:19

It's probably a damn sight more stimulating than cooking , cleaning and taxiing dc around though..

OP posts:
Sirzy · 29/10/2013 19:28

It sounds like your problem is you resent the fact your husband has to travel as part of his job more than anything else.

IBelieveInAngles · 29/10/2013 19:45

YANBU. That's 1/3 of most people I know's budgets!

gobbynorthernbird · 29/10/2013 20:00

Airport, plane, airport, taxi, meetings, dinner that isn't really a dinner because you're working and on best behaviour, hotel room, meetings, dinner, rinse and repeat. All the time missing your kids, partner, home comforts, etc. And suffering from jetlag. It's grim. If you're lucky you might have the odd hour to grab a few souvenirs because everybody wants something from wherever.
Being at home is tiresome as well, but at least you're at home.
