To wonder where this 'storm' is

5am we had a pathetic attempt at a thunderstorm, it's been a gorgeous day today only just started raining. I have torches, curtains and windows open ready to enjoy 'St Jude's' but nothing...why do we bother having a weather forecast!

Disclaimer: While I enjoy a few gusts and thunder and lightening I in no way want a huge storm that will affect others in any negative way*

Could that be the calm before the storm MinesaPintofBlood? No wind and a bit of drizzle here in Yorkshire but I think it's due to hit about 3am or theresbouts.

It's definitely sounding a bit wild outside now! Constant loud white noise from the trees (I am 40ft away from an oak copse; the trees are 60+ ft tall, so if one falls it will hit the house. And now the wind is beginning to make a sort of roar. Must be because of the trees I suppose. Difficult sleeping under the circumstances!
I'm in Hampshire, by the way.

Heavy rain in Cornwall, nothing out of the ordinary yet though.

Blimey! There was a massive gust just now that made a 'thump' sound on the window and the bedroom curtains wafted outwards, then sucked back again - and I have sealed double glazed windows!

It's suddenly got a lot worse in the last 10 minutes.

No wind or rain in Gloucestershire. And the forecast keeps revising down the severity. At this rate we may get a drizzle! Perhaps it's spent itself south and west?

Oh. Just checked times and places - not reached us yet. Hope all is well with those of you down south of us.

I've just checked the warnings and it seems Yorkshire has a yellow warning for rain and gale force winds so sounds like the winds won't get this far. I live near a small village that regularly floods though so I hope the rain doesn't cause that to happen.

I hope it's not too bad for those further south.

Yep, sweet FA of note here in South London.

Bit of wind, bit of rain.

likewise, not impressed, was looking forward to some proper biblical pestilence, but looks like we might get 25mph winds

I wouldn't have wished for a trail of destruction, but since it was promised I was quite looking forward to watching it out of my second floor bedroom window.

Booooooo!

The Mirror have a camera filming the seafront in Brighton - it's pretty windy and raining hard - here

Thought it's not supposed to really hit for another hour or so, so not surprised nothing much is happening yet.

I'm up North, so I'm not expecting anything here except some rain

I think I've got it.

Our local weather station has just posted 92mph gusts. It's not supposed to hit properly until 5am here I think

I've been watching the Brighton seafront thing as well. I can't really see that anything will happen though, except maybe the lights will come down or a pedestrian will fall over. They should have filmed some beach huts, some of them are bound to blow away!

Lilka · 28/10/2013 01:49

have some of those lights just gone out or is it just me?

Quiet in Shropshire. It is raining and has been for a while. Nothing out of the ordinary as yet.

Unless they've just moved the camera because I could see the traffic on the road before.
