Because are lots and lots of mothers and lots and lots of people with wildly diverse opinions on mothers should/shouldn't do/be/have.

And she is a professional troll.

So provocative "articles" about mothers means lots of clicks and job security becuase it aids her in the maintainence of a high profile for herself and the people who engage her services..

She's a fucking idiot. That is all.

If Liz Jones was as bad as keeping kids safe as she is at protecting her animals they'd have been taken into care anyway.

Her column was littered with tales of accidents and mishaps befalling her dogs and horses, often from apparent carelessness. She also wrote about her Collie dog Michael's repeated attacks on sheep a few years ago when she first moved to Exmoor. She appeared not to understand that a lead would have sorted this after the first attack but no, it happened again.

Disgusting.

I think she is just jealous as her life seems pointless and empty? Not just because she has no children. I know many lovely childless couples who are not like this.

I dare say that if her mother was a career woman she would be moaning about that.

She is simply hopping on Cherie's bandwagon.

I am a happy SAHM and don't give two hoots what Cherie or this waste of space think about that. My family seem pretty happy thank you. And yes I have my own cheque book.

Why is this stuff allowed to be in print?

She may not hate them at all, I'm not convinced she actually means all the things she rants about but she knows that to sell her work, she needs viewers. I'm sure she means some, but some are definitely sensationalised.

I think most of her articles paint her as a dick imo but she's smart enough to know that being controversial about any topic is going to create blog posts, forum posts (like this) and online ranting about it-all of which will either link back to her work, or encourage people to look at it, even if it's just to say 'damn, you didn't!'

Which means her hit rating for viewers goes sky high.

Plus what better topic to cover when they know the chances are someone on parenting forums will bring it up- after all the DM links to mumsnet and talks about it enough and people often post links to the DM too.

Watch out for a working mum one somewhere down the line likely touting neglect. And so on and so on for all kinds of topics that can create divisions and anger.

Poor woman. I feel sorry for her. I read a colleague's DM sometimes and have read a few of her articles on her childhood, marriage etc.

She needs therapy is what she does need.

But to actually think and print some of those things,if you put fat or old in front there would be uproar.

Retro - she doesn't really like fat people either - she says it in a veiled way but that's due to her anorexia.

She can think those things - nothing wrong with that. To write them - well DM is paying her to do it. Her editor or Femail editor should may police them more.

and as we all at MN know Daily Fail is great for stirring up controversy.

She has serious ishues hasn't she? A non-person, Moi? It is so clear that she wanted children and that she is mentally scarred by not achieving much in her personal life. Can all SAHM sue her for difamation? After all, she is making 'a false statement that harms the reputation of an individual, business, product, group, government, religion, or nation' (Wikipedia definition). It's a form of discrimination, isn't it, to point the finger at one specific group and make that kind of statement?

I can't help but feel sorry for someone who's obviously just filled with poison. Must be a very sad existence.

and what makes me laugh is her numerous articles alluding to the terrible trolling she gets courtesy of t'interweb, neglecting to mention that it's usually in response to a poisonous tsunami of vitriol she's spewed forth.

I'm a SAHM. Has its up sides and down sides. Like all lifestyle choices! I feel no spite or hatred towards working mums or women who don't have kids etc. Fair play to them. I don't need to obsess about other people's lives which suggests I am reasonably comfortable about my own choices. Unlike Liz!

Who is Liz Jones? I can sort of see her point about some of what she says. My mum used to martyr herself doing various unnecessary things for us and I don't think I was very appreciative (nor did she).

It's really a Catch 22 for so many women. Have children young, your career will be compromised. Plan to have them later so you can concentrate on your career and the chances are high you will struggle with infertility or the right person to have thrm with won't be forthcoming.

Her article was not very coherent though - all over the place. Getting women back to work doesn't necessarily boost the economy - there is no time to shop!

Good post haunted. Agree her writing is very erratic and she keeps churning out the same stuff under different headlines. To me she just comes across as sad.

She tries to be 'provocative' which the DM seems to like. Unfortunately her view will be shared by others - the DM is the 2nd most popular paper in the country (I think!) and whether we dismiss it or not it does represent the views of many.

I get the feeling she is on the way out. Hence the increasingly desperate articles.

I notice the rock star has been retired because it was clear he didn't exist and she couldn't keep the lie going anymore.

In this age of camera phones the fact that not one single person has ever photographed them out and about (despite her mentioning meeting him in bars/hotels/restaurants) is clear proof that he was a fantasy. Liz Jones appears to be a compulsive liar, a pathology in itself.

Apparently she's deeply indebted and has spent hundreds of thousands of pounds on designer clothing. Why would you assume that someone not working full time has no interests and no ability to talk about anything other than mastitis and stools? I don't think she's really spent a lot of time around the women she's trying to denigrate. Oh well. She sounds like an extremely unhappy person, it's all a bit sad really.
