Someone has posted saying they need clothes in a certain size and that they must be trendy and you need to deliver them. Or words to that effect.
Aibu to think that this is rude

OP posts:
ICameOnTheJitney · 15/10/2013 21:01

Yanbu. I wonder what "trendy" means.

DaleyBump · 15/10/2013 21:02

Of course it's rude, but what else do you want people to say? Scroll past it.

pianodoodle · 15/10/2013 21:04

You see a lot like that some are really cheeky!

DH was wondering if we could get away with putting our grocery list on there Grin

ElleBelly · 15/10/2013 21:06

Yanbu, utter piss takers.

BillyBanter · 15/10/2013 21:08

trendy is meaningless.

asking for delivery is very cheeky. Don't think the rest is.

austenozzy · 15/10/2013 21:11

Our freecycle is always good for a giggle. It usually runs a bit like this:

Offered: Six paving slabs (broken).
Wanted: Conservatory (please deliver).

Flossyfloof · 15/10/2013 21:23

I was tempted to answer one posting tonight by saying "Do you think you might get more responses if you say please?" So bloody rude. I think the moderators should strike them off the membership list.

LaurieFairyCake · 15/10/2013 21:30

I've been offering great stuff on freecycle all week and have laughed at the responses:

  1. When can you deliver as unfortunately my bubs is sick and I need it dropped off
  1. I'll have it, call me on 078898
  1. Exact dimensions please ( probably doesn't sound that unreasonable but I moved in that day, they knew that and still expected me to find a tape measure)
  1. "Dear! Picture please"
  1. Do you know how much you paid for it as I can't find that model on the Internet

I've ignored all of them and only responded to people who say please and say they will pick up

Mogz · 15/10/2013 21:31

I'm getting so fed up of the constant requests for expensive things on the freecycle groups I'm on. Examples this week include a 125cc scooter, a puppy, le creuset cookware and a new summerhouse. I've obviously missed the point thinking it was for hard up people to get everyday essentials from kind strangers.

Dawndonnaagain · 15/10/2013 21:37

I only ever reply to please and Thank you. I can't bear the ones that reply with 'bell me' followed by their number. No, fuck off!
Grrrr!

MyCarHasBrokenDownAgain · 15/10/2013 21:38

Someone on ours said, and I quote 'In need of a 32" flat screen TV and stand please many thanks'. They NEED a 32" flat screen TV. Need? Really? Tosser! Wink

Still, at least he said please and thank you, so if I did have one just knocking about 'gathering dust', I'd probably let him 'take it off my hands'! Smile

(and anyway, 32" is so small nowadays, don't ya know Grin )

dazzlingdeborahrose · 15/10/2013 21:42

There's was one on my local group who asked for a mini. Yes, the car! Another wanted an iPod for their 3 year old who had dropped their previous one and broken it. No shit Sherlock. My favourite was the person who'd been given the use of a touring caravan by a friend. To thank them he'd like to install a chemical toilet as a surprise!! Some surprise. Half your nice tourer torn out and a used chemical toilet in .........Blush

MidniteScribbler · 15/10/2013 21:45

We had one the other day wanting an iphone 5, and it must be in good condition. I still have a bloody iphone 3!

picnicbasketcase · 15/10/2013 21:47

Oh, it makes me laugh. 'Wanted : DVD recorder, must be in perfect condition and made by Panasonic to match TV. Cannot collect'. Etc Grin Who the hell are they kidding?

This is on my local freecycle tonight
This has now been collected. Thanks for the 17 polite replies, and to the 14 people who sent one line replies such as "Has it gone?" or "Can I have it?" and similar, as I promised in the offer, your replies were deleted immediately! To the rest who replied, whatever happened to words such as "Please" and "Thank you"? Politeness is very important, and costs nothing.

Regards, Alan

Good on you Alan, whoever you are!

Flossyfloof · 15/10/2013 22:11

Freecycle is not for poor people. It is for anyone and everyone.

TheFarSide · 15/10/2013 22:13

I gave up on Freecycle after a spate of "single dad needs laptop so kids can do homework" requests. There are two many people abusing other people's generosity. I'd much rather give items to charity now.

nipersvest · 15/10/2013 22:17

i put some boxes of hair dye on freecycle and one person who responded emailed me 5 times altogether, 4 times just with their address, and the final time was the address followed by a rather angry 'when was i going to drop it round'. i replied, 'i'm sorry, but you seem to have mistaken freecycle for amazon, i don't do delivery'.

FreudiansSlipper · 15/10/2013 22:24

i find requests like that amusing and maybe they get what they are asking for Grin

ThisUsername · 15/10/2013 22:27

I put some baby clothes on, one woman replied 5 times using 5 different email adresses. It was easy to spot her though as with emails it gives their name in the inbox plus the emails were identical and 2 minutes between them.

I had 4 asking for delieveryHmm , one asked what brands they wereShock ,1 woman asking if they were washed and ironedHmm and no end of "I'll ave um, txt me"

They went to the one person who said please, thank you and asked when would be convenient for collection.

We often have car requests, "must be in VGC", certain model numbers and "Must be new"

One once asked if anyone had a caravan they could use for free near a certain beach. Couldn't afford lecky but needed to have an on site club house.

NicknameIncomplete · 15/10/2013 22:35

I think freecycle is full of people who want the items to sell on and tight fisted people who want things for nothing.

Love the comment about freecylce not being amazon Grin

AlexaChelsea · 15/10/2013 22:36

Description hi guys my hover is broken i need a new one someone pls help. my dream come true its a henry :(

Brilliant. I wS originally drawn to someone looking for a 'hover', and then enthralled by the person asking for a specific brand.

AlexaChelsea · 15/10/2013 22:41

Is this real?

Description I would need a lamp to read. If it is a standing one would be great. Thanks :)

A lamp? Really? You can buy a lamp for like, £2?!
