Someone has posted saying they need clothes in a certain size and that they must be trendy and you need to deliver them. Or words to that effect.
Aibu to think that this is rude

I should say, I have no problem with someone selling something on if I cant be arsed, sometimes the effort of ebay etc for the sake of a couple of quid isnt worth it.

I would happily reply to an ad that wanted car boot items. Its the underhanded way it is done and the sheer rudeness of the people doing it when they are making money out of you!

I have given away loads of stuff on free cycle, the biggest thing was DS's cotbed to a couple whose baby was struggling in a small cot but not big enough for a bed. And they re free cycled it afterwards too.

I once asked for and got a working law mower when ours broke down. It was an old one but worked fine and helped us out.

PigletJohn · 17/10/2013 16:20

my local site has a creep user who posts every two weeks. One of his ads says "photographer seeks models" and the other says "Wanted: Lingerie, stockings, high heels etc"

seems rather undesirable to me.

homebythesea · 17/10/2013 16:42

I often put that I want items to go to a specific type of group eg Youth Club, Childrens Centre, Toddler group etc (eg for toys / games). Despite making that very clear in the Offered Ad I still get replies along the lines of "I know I'm not [specified group] but [insert sob story here]"

Drives me mad

Bogeyface · 17/10/2013 16:50

piglet Ewwwww! That actually made me shudder! We would have banned anyone like that from ours!

sashh · 17/10/2013 17:41

I also have a rule that anything got by freecycle that is no longer needed is also freecycled.

I got a fridge for a friend getting his new place, then a couple of weeks later he was given a fridge freezer so the 'old' - immaculate fridge went back on freecycle.

My local freegle is full of wanted ads and offers of crap. Far more wanted than offers tho. My favourite my a bloke requesting patio heaters, gazebo and other garden stuff as it was the birthday of 'his missus' that weekend and they wanted an outdoor party.

Loads of people asking for tablets/laptops for their children's homework. Someone asked for burgundy leather sofas must be in good condition. I love how specific some of the demands are.

Mellowandfruitful · 17/10/2013 23:09

I've seen the very specific sofa requests as well, with the immortal 'must be..' phrase (why do people put it so rudely?) Surely you would just buy a cheap throw to go over the top if it wasn't a colour you'd have chosen yourself?

MalcolmTuckersMistress · 18/10/2013 08:37

Trendy is a funny word because it suggests the complete opposite to me! Who uses that in normal every day life now? Only knabby freecyclers it seems.

I hope she gets given a shell suit.

I put my old car on free cycle after it presented me with a larger MOT bill than it was worth and I couldn't get it to 'we buy any car' or such like for less than they would give me.

It was a good project for a trainee mechanic or similar who could put the labour in & then sell it on.

I had about 50 replies and I would say all but one or two were polite. A teenager doing an NVQ and his dad picked it up and 6 months later when I had totally forgotten all about it & they sold it on I recieved a lovely bouquet from interflora (they obviously had my address) thanking me.

So sometimes it does work :)

clareabouts · 20/10/2013 12:07

My favourite "wanted" ad came from a woman whose colleagues had bought her a baby gym for her newborn, but it wasn't due to be delivered for six weeks, so could someone give her one in the meantime?

(Disclaimer: I don't really know what a baby gym is.)
