I just heard in my room that my husband was saying 'stupid' as a small voice while he was cooking alone.

Was he swearing?

Let him swear if he wants to. If he's in the kitchen calling something inanimate stupid, it sounds as if he needs to release tension somehow and swearing really isn't that bad.
