i joined MN a couple of days ago, deleted netmums today. it was ok over there but i got fed up mostly with the continual loop of breastfeeding/benefits/greggs and fruitshoot threads.

mumsnet already seems less mundane and childish.

AnaisHellWitch · 15/10/2013 00:27

Don't delete Netmums! You never know when you might want to see what is being discussed over there Wink

BaronessBomburst · 15/10/2013 00:28

Bear [thlbear]

BaronessBomburst · 15/10/2013 00:28

Bollocks!

IamtheZombie · 15/10/2013 00:32

Sad isn't it, Baroness?

BaronessBomburst · 15/10/2013 00:32

Yes. Hey, did you ever play Cleopatra? Grin

IamtheZombie · 15/10/2013 00:38

Zombie was a drama major at uni but no, Cleo was never one of her roles.

Weegiemum · 15/10/2013 00:44

I was banned (about 9 years ago) because I described my rampaging PND as "feeling crap". I possibly also said I was "feeling fucking crap".

But you know what? I was!

There was no other way to describe it.

NM wanted me to stop swearing. MN (I'd been on both since 2002) wanted to know how they could help with the PND.

I know where I'd rather be!!

MrWottingersbitontheside · 15/10/2013 06:26

I was banned sort of from nethuns for calling the previous 20 or so posters on a thread fucking vile disgusting human beings (nmhq said it was because I had 2 accounts and obviously used one to be nasty and inflammatory- I had two for needing to ask a sensitive question) the thread was about a young girl who was gang raped and they all blamed her parents and her saying she shouldn't have been out at night. Not one had said anything along the lines of 'those guys shouldn't have raped her' Seen to much of that shit over there, but I still log on now and again on my other account they didn't delete to give advice in the breastfeeding section.

Theunincredibles · 15/10/2013 07:45

YANBU

Nethuns is shit these days. The good people are either here of don't post. Oh and humphreyscorner probably has the rum, along with the vodka.

mrspolkadotty · 15/10/2013 08:10

YANBU

I was a member on NM for a few years and kept hearing about 'the other site' and the 'nest of vipers'. Being a nosy cow curious person i decided to have a gander at the 'nest' and realised this is much more my kind of thing Grin

Pour yourself a gin and settle in.

CakeBotherer · 15/10/2013 09:26

mumsnet already seems less mundane and childish.

You haven't seen a Friday night thread derailment yet, have you. Highly childish and highly entertaining.

TheBigJessie · 15/10/2013 09:36

Welcome!

I disapproved of NM to start with solely for the naming system. Grin It may be fine if you're a Sarah S. (31) in London with 2 children, but if you're Kathleen or Aisling Z. (26) in Pembrokeshire, you're easily identifiable by the time you've mentioned your Jack Russell, your time in hospital with Summat Nasty, and your daughter's first week in school.

Also the posts were like coconut-chocobar forums- I knew I wouldn't be able to participate without being flamed!

MrWottingersbitontheside · 15/10/2013 09:43

seen too* much of that shit over there.

Rotterwallah · 15/10/2013 09:47

Where I come from munging is skipping school. That could lead to confusion Hmm

ToggyD · 15/10/2013 09:49

I'm on Netmums right now. I'm currently trying to mention Mumsnet in every post!Grin

LittleMissGerardBOOOOOtler · 15/10/2013 09:49

Welcome, once you come here there's no turning back.

I got told off for using the word bitch over there, wasn't calling someone one, it was along the lines of 'red wine is a bitch to get out'

You can say cunt, fuck whatever you like here so long as it isn't aimed at someone in a nasty way. Calling someone an atrocious cunt can be a term of endearment on here though :o

LittleMissGerardBOOOOOtler · 15/10/2013 09:54

I just looked quickly to see what they are talking about and there is a thread about mumsnet, and how someone is appauled by the language here, apparently we use words like f*k and c*t Shock :o

Ohwhatwitcheryisthis · 15/10/2013 09:54

I believe saying cunting may be part of the rules-for extra points get it in a nn. and twunk and wankstain and knobby knobhead arse face fucker and and and goes and lies down at the sheer joy of being able to swear
It's nice here innit? socialism in boden and aldi.

Ohwhatwitcheryisthis · 15/10/2013 09:57

oh and there is sporn.Halloween Blush

TheBigJessie · 15/10/2013 10:02

I don't like to swear too much, but I like that I can when I want. I like the fact that the rules here are about the spirit of nastiness (personal attacks, etc), not whether you use a certain string of letters (see what I did there?) in reference to anything at all, just like my interactions with my friends in RL.

TheBigJessie · 15/10/2013 10:05

Also, there's some words more offensive to me than the four letter F-word, which NM is fine with. Hmm

However, Mumsnet isn't.
