To ask how often you shower / wash?

This came up in a conversation with friends the other day. Some shower morning and night, some just once a day, others only once every couple of days and then others only when they have to leave the house, so potentially less than that! Just wondered what was "normal" for you?

Shower every other day, more often than not once a day if I've exercised. Very dry skin and a few skin conditions that get extremely irritated by water/washing. Lucky I'm not a smelly person :-)

Farewelltoarms · 11/10/2013 14:38

Gosh you lot shave a lot. My pits get done if I'm going swimming and then only if I remember.
My husband fortunately was at an impressionable age when Nena did 99 Red Balloons.

Farewelltoarms · 11/10/2013 14:38

Oh I shower once a day but never or very rarely twice.

TheFabulousIdiot · 11/10/2013 14:45

I shave my legs about 4 times a year but I am not that hairy.
I shave my armpits every couple of weeks.

Lweji · 11/10/2013 14:47

I shower every day, once a day, except if I feel lazy (mostly Sundays if I stay at home) or if I have self defence classes (I shower before as well because of the close contact we get).

RevelsRoulette · 11/10/2013 14:50

Shower every morning and I wash my hands, face, pits n bits every evening. I like to feel fresh and clean in the morning and it feels really nice to crawl into bed when you're all freshly washed.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 11/10/2013 15:26

shower or bath every day usually, odd time it gets missed if I am out late or feeling lazy but would then shower in the morning. sometimes I do twice, but always was morning and night even after shower or bath. after 23 years married I asked DH if I had ever smelt, he said only once had he ever detected a slight whiff of sweaty armpit, Grin

Beastofburden · 11/10/2013 15:33

come I did with the really bad person and it is sorted but it was difficult and horrid to do.

missmartha · 11/10/2013 15:33

I try to shower ever morning and mostly I do but sometimes just can't be arsed.

Showering twice a day isn't something I'd do unless I was actually filthy.

Isn't it bad for the skin?

Almostfifty · 11/10/2013 15:45

I can't wake up properly without a shower. I wash my hair every morning too.

If we're going out, I'll shower again, but not otherwise.

somewheresomehow · 11/10/2013 15:52

I shower every morning or i look like a hedgehog on a bad day,

blahblahblah2014 · 11/10/2013 15:52

Bath 2 or 3 times a week, hair washed maybe twice a week. Deoderant....It's a shower in a can ;)

ShakeRattleNRoll · 11/10/2013 15:53

in the summer once or twice a day in the winter maybe 3 times a week

BellaVita · 11/10/2013 15:55

Every day, quite often twice (after gym session).

NorbertDentressangle · 11/10/2013 16:00

I shower every morning without fail and sometimes, like today when I went to the gym, I'll have another one.

In the summer or on holiday I tend to have a second shower late afternoon/early evening if I've been wearing suncream as I hate that sticky feeling that it leaves on your skin.

LauraShigihara · 11/10/2013 16:01

Shower every morning, and again in the evening, if I want to. I would feel horrible if I didn't have that morning shower.

Hair washed every other day.

Absy · 11/10/2013 16:04

I shower at least once a day, normally in the morning (otherwise I can't wake up). If I go to the gym, I shower after the gym, and if it's summer and hot I shower in the evening as well (particularly after being on the tube which is just rank, particularly if you end up near someone who doesn't believe in washing/deodorant).

Donkeyok · 11/10/2013 16:08

usual suspect 'every birthday and Christmas' Grin whether I need it or not

YoniBottsBumgina · 11/10/2013 16:17

We used to have baths once a week as kids, and a stand-up at the sink underarm wash every morning from puberty onwards. I think I have some weird issues around personal hygeine now because to get in the shower always seems like a big thing, it's freezing when you get out and takes ages to get dry. I don't know why I see it as this big thing though when others clearly don't and just do it as a matter of course every day Confused

I need to wash my hair about once every 2-3 days or it starts to get greasy. Currently I'm trying to exercise 2-3 times a week and that always makes me want to shower without fail.

Whathaveiforgottentoday · 11/10/2013 16:41

Shower daily in the morning normally. (very occasionally miss a shower but only when not planning to leave house)
I only wash my hair every 3 days as its very dry and washing too often dries it out.
In very hot weather I might shower in the evening as well if I feel really sticky.

HorryIsUpduffed · 11/10/2013 18:51

It's like another world Confused

Twice a week, probably, one of which a hair wash. I genuinely have the shiniest, strongest hair in the school playground, and always had the clearest skin in my year as a teenager. I have naturally dry and sensitive skin, and am lazy so don't sweat much Grin

You can still smell shampoo on my hair by the next time I wash it. I wear clean clothes every day and use APD daily. I do not use body lotion or moisturiser (my skin can't breathe if I do so I react horribly even to E45 etc).

In other words, I'm lucky. There's genuinely less to wash off than there is for other people.

poppingin1 · 11/10/2013 19:00

Wash to me means an actual shower.

MadAsFish · 11/10/2013 20:24

Every second day. The water here is so hard, and my skin is so dry that I look amazingly papery if I shower every day.

Sallystyle · 11/10/2013 20:37

I only wash my hair once every three days. It is very dry so I really don't need to do it that often, could get away with 4 days but don't want smelly hair.

I wash/shower or bath every day.

Littlestgirlguide · 11/10/2013 21:03

Iloveafullfridge - have you never had what my grandmother termed a 'strip-wash'?
Strip off and a good wash all over with a flannel and a bowl of soapy water basically. When I was a teenager we didn't have a shower, only a bath, and my mother taught me to strip-wash daily in between bath-days (Sundays and Wednesdays!) this was to save time and water I think. Gets you just as clean, honest.
We are regular campers (the username should give a clue) and use campsites with no facilities so knowing how to strip wash is essential.
It really is not necessary to shower three times a day, surely?! Nowadays I shower every other day and have a very long soak in the bath for relaxation on a Sunday evening, with regular washes in between.
