...to think that the X Factor is manipulative shite and why the hell do I watch it?!

How could two of the best singers NOT be put through? First Sharon and her stupid decision to let Joe Wheelan go (and put that AWFUL Shelly through instead) and then Louis let Paul - who was one of the best singers ever to grace X Factor's doors - go.

Why the fuck do I watch this shit and get so irate? They don't give a toss about the people who go on there do they?

Arghh!

Those two might sound good to us.... But in the flesh? Who knows

They want to make money, so honestly, why would they let the best ones go?

mynameismskane · 05/10/2013 23:02

They do it all the time! They put shit ones through and let good ones go.

I need to stop watching.

Honestly once you stop watching you wonder why you ever started.

I broke free last year and have so far stayed off it this year too :) much to dh's delight

mynameismskane · 05/10/2013 23:04

It's like a cheap nasty drug.

I must free myself!

my ears are most thankful! And I no longer get any tv rage on a sat night and the urges to chuck cushions at the telly have gone.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 05/10/2013 23:17

Stop watching. I made that decision last week, after having watched every series since the beginning.

Watched a film instead.

Bearbehind · 05/10/2013 23:39

I don't usually watch it but even I can see the last lad Louis got rid of was a fantastic singer and knocked that Scottish pimple of a boy into a cocked hat.

Lj8893 · 05/10/2013 23:42

I stopped watching it several years ago. But have caved this year, probably because I'm pregnant and so don't have a massive social life at the weekend!

I didn't like Shelley tonight, but don't rate Joseph's voice at all!!! His range is awful.
And his attitude last week when Gary suggested Sharon let him go was shocking. I would have got rid of him there and then for his childish behaviour.

SeaSickSal · 05/10/2013 23:47

It's rubbish this year. They haven't got any of the funny acts and they're just relying on the mawkish emotional stuff which is just overloaded without a joke act to lighten it.

And I don't like they way they're creating tears with things like offering people a place then taking it away or making them be filmed telling their families they've not gone through.

And I can't bear that Screw-Bo who is just trying to play on people's emotions with the 'Pooooor meeee' act all the time.

Going to stop watching I think.

seasalt · 05/10/2013 23:50

Paul was absolutely brilliant, can't believe he is goneAngry. Wonder if there will be a wildcard?

SeaSickSal · 06/10/2013 00:06

That black lad who'd worked the nightshift and come straight to the audition was brilliant too but Sharon got rid of him because 'the audience didn't like him' when he seemed one of the most personable people on it.

Probably because he didn't cry enough.

Nombrechanger · 06/10/2013 00:19

Of course there'll be a Wildcard.
It's so bleeding obvious.

The transparent bastards.

mynameismskane · 06/10/2013 09:01

Paul should be the wildcard to get through. Can't STAND Shelly. 34? My arse.

I watched a bit last night, what iterated me is that it seemed like it wasn't about the signing but having the look as well.

One of the judges even said she could imagine her daughter having poster of the one young lad.

SHarri13 · 06/10/2013 09:23

I have to boycott as I promised I would if Shelley got through. She really annoys me as will probably be bracing our screens for year to come as a shit fill in presenter on ITV morning and daytime telly.

CiderBomb · 06/10/2013 10:07

Is been rubbish for years. Seriously, I fell out of a love with the X factor when that gormless Leon, who's probably flipping burgers somewhere now, beat the fabulous Rhydian.

Watch Strictly instead. It's a much nicer show. Fun, camp and fabulous.

KatieScarlett2833 · 06/10/2013 10:08

After I read the Ben Elton book I couldn't watch any of these programmes. Still can't.

Writerwannabe83 · 06/10/2013 10:12

I can't believe Paul didn't get through either!!

I agree that Joseph wasn't that special and his behaviour on the show last week was embarrassing, he behaved like a child!

ubik · 06/10/2013 10:13

It's a fucking circus.

They multi audition the vulnerable and mentally ill and tell them they are brilliant and then let the 'judges' tear them apart for the entertainment of the idiots in the audience and the slack-jawed masses watching at home.

They choose quite a few losers, some whacky characters and then a couple of insipid teens to go through. There's then umpteen bloody shows with folk continuing to bubble and sniff and bang on about how it's their only chance as if they are going to be taken out and executed if they don't nail Mama Mia

It's so friggin cynical. It' is utterly brainless. I would cheerfully put all those 'judges' against the wall come the revolution.

BiscuitsAreMyDownfall · 06/10/2013 10:14

I think the quicker people (by people I mean people generally, no-one on this particular thread) realise that X Factor is not a talent contest, but an entertainment program designed to make money for Cowell, the better IMHO

The producers dont care if they find the next big thing or not (but they probably will find someone who will make it even its not the winner). All they want to do is to make a program to make money an any act that comes out as successful after is just a bonus.

I still watch it though, dont really know why.

Agree Shelley is not the same age as me

mrsjay · 06/10/2013 10:19

the judges dont choose their people the producers do,

I hate that seat thing last week it was horrible I watched it this week and decided I won't watch the lives I really cant be arsed I didnt watch at all last year but I like sharon so wanted to see her, but the contestants are all a but and I don't think the producers Louis made a good decision in putting that young good looking lad through I liked the other 2 better Im not sure of their names but the slightly over weight boys were far better imo

mrsjay · 06/10/2013 10:22

That black lad who'd worked the nightshift and come straight to the audition was brilliant too but Sharon got rid of him because 'the audience didn't like him' when he seemed one of the most personable people on it.

I loved him I was shocked when she got rid I would imagine he would be a great singer and camp it up a bit on saturday nights they all seem a bit safe this year , I probbaly wont watch tonight tbh as I know who they will put through with the girls , the girl with the flowers in her hair the black girl who sobbed , and I didn't see any of the groups audition and i liked the rock tennors

CiderBomb · 06/10/2013 10:23

I think the X Factor has become one of those programmes that people are ashamed to admit they watch now. I rarely hear people talking about anymore and the viewing figures have dropped dramatically over the past few years (nearly always beaten by Strictly).

It's just one great big money making scam for Simon Cowell, who I can't stand.

FavoriteThings · 06/10/2013 10:25

I gave up watching a few years ago, for the reasons on this thread. In which way should a "story" trump talent?
And the "I have always wanted to do this. This is my only chance stuff" when they are only 18 really is annoying.

mrsjay · 06/10/2013 10:26

yes this is all I ever wanted to do if i dot get through my life is over SHUT UP YOU ARE 16 behave yourself Angry
